Same worries again - update

Hi All,
I thought I should update you on last night. I increased the minimum pressure to 8 from 4 and work up about 4 o'clock after 6 hours sleep. I had a quick look at the results and leaks were about 6.2 L/Sec (boo Hiss), but the AHI was down to 2.1 (HI 1.2 & AI 0.9), te best results I have seen. Great I thought, and tried to get back to sleep. I dozed for quite a while (didn't feel all that tired and then nodded off for a short while. The dozing and second sleep was about an hour and a half. I woke up just now and had a look at the results: Leak 6.2 (boo, Hiss again) and the AHI was 5.5 with the HI 4.4 and AI 1.1. So what happened in the last hour and a half?

Would lying awake or dozing give me high readings?
The mask reading was still ***** and excellent (reads 75% of the sleep). Do you think this might suggest that I am getting quality sleep for most of the night (as mask ***** suggests) and then having a couple of bad hours at the end of the night?

Thanks to you all for the feed back.
Brian

Nothing.

Exactly. The machines looks at breathing patterns to identify interruptions in the flow - and the breathing pattern when you're awake - or dozing, or tossing - cofuses the analysis process.

Leaks:
I assume you have the right mask setting on the machine, since it was checked by a Resmed center, but for other who may be reading this:

Chat with a Resmed rep. about the Quattro, on Talk About Sleep, April 2007
What mask setting do you use on the AutoSet ™ flow generators?Mirage Quattro uses the "Mir Full" or "Full Face" setting depending on the model of the flow generator.

What setting should be used on ResMed flow generators?
"Full face" or "Mir Full" settings on the S8™ series from ResMed.
I don't understand your leak rate at all.
O.

Niether do , but thanks to people like you, BigK, Rested Gal, and all the others on this list i am slowly but surely getting my head around this whole new experience. The patience you guys have to be willing to expalin the same thing several times is fantastic. It really has helped me no end.

I think that I am going to try to ignore the results and just go on how I feel, maybe just look once a week at what the figures say. I am getting tied up in read-outs and that can be can be adictive <g>. Last night I had the best AHI ever: 2.8 with AI at 0.1 and HI at 2.7, but with a mask fit of *** and GOOD ( I have always had excellent & *****) and a leak rate of 0.52. Figure that lot out.

I can only presume that even with a too high leak rate, that the machine can cope as the results sound pretty good to me. Does anyone disagree? Thanks for everyones advice.
