I've got the M Series Auto with C-Flex (500m). My wife's biggest hope was it would be quieter than the old straight cpap Remstar I had. I was just happy that it was so much smaller for travel.

After a month of use, I like everything about it with one exception -- the freaking noise. The exhalation sounds like a moanning whine. The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get. My wife is really peaved with the noise.

I could probably take it back to my DME, but it is like taking back a Corvette to get a Chevette because the muffler is loud. I've already bought the two-factor card reader and like the Encore software.

Is there anything by another maker that is comparable to the M-Series by Respironics?

I know this is digging up an old topic, but I negotiated with my DME to get a used pre-M series instead of a new M-series (but I get a full length warranty on the pre-M) because the M-series exhale noise drove my wife and I crazy.

The noise from my machine travels through the hose to my face and I can hear it. So a sound proof box would not eliminate the noise. I have taken the machine back to the seller, they test it, changed a couple parts, with no change. It doesn't sound that bad on their work bench but the environment is totally different in a quiet bedroom. It sounds like high winds blowing through a window that is not totally closed.

Use a fleece hose cover to dampen noise. Example - https://www.cpap.com/productpage/snuggl ... cover.html

Set your machine below the level of the top of the mattress. Set it on something like a pad to absorb vibrations. Do not set it on the floor.
