Ultra Mirage vs Activa

Hi All!
I currently use the Ultra Mirage. Nice mask, but I feel I can't eliminate the leaks without tightening too hard.
Does anyone know about the ResMed Activa? Would this one be any better?
I use a very high pressure -- BiPap 20 over 16.
Your feedback, as always, is appreciated.

While I can't comment on a presure that high... I can tell you I use the Activa and it is my favoraite mask.

Be forewarrned.... it is a LOT more nosiey than your current mask.

That Activa doesn't leak for me and you don't have to bolt it down tight. You can leave it loose and it works well.

Again, I can't comment on your presure.

My pressure is only 9 so I don't have experience at your pressure but I can say that I love my Activa mask. Under its design, the entire flexible part of the mask itself is a self-forming gasket. It works best when it's just slightly snug.

Hi,
My pressure is 16 and I have used the actvia for years.
I have had no real problems with it.
So it should work for you.

I, too, have the Avtiva and you definitely don't want to "bolt it down to your face" you actually want to have it a bit loose before you turn you machine on. It has a "billow" type interface and as someone here suggested, it kind of does push-ups on your face as you breath. I'm at 14/11. My problem is that it is sl. too big for me. There are other woman on this site that have said the same thing. The smallest they have is Standard.

I used the Ultra at my Titration and it felt like it leaked all night but the RT said it was fine.

I, too, use the Activa--it is the loosest mask I've used, keeps its seal very well. My pressure usually hovers around 13, but at times increases automatically to 16.

I agree with everyones reply, Activa is a wonderful mask, my favorite for my pressure at 18. Like Wabmorgan said, it is a bit noisy , you can hear yourself breathing in and out. But you get used to it and it does not bother you.

However Sus-E-Q, there is a smaller mask that may fit you better, the size Shallow. That is what I wear, the Standard is much too large for me. I have tried several other masks, and always go back to the Activa.

I use the Activa, only becaus it does not damage my face the way others do. However, it leaks like a sieve at my pressure of 16, if I move my face in any direction other than looking stright up. My leak line is never anything close to horizontal and stays around 40-44 for an average. And, yes, I tape my mouth shut. I think it has to do with the shape of your face, not the design of the mask. I'd like to try the Sleep Weaver (cloth mask), but I haven't heard enough good reports from people to spend $170 for one.

Great Mask!

My pressure is also 20, and the Activa seals perfectly for me, even over facial hair! Like everyone else has said, I leave the straps VERY loose and still get a perfect seal every time. I've tried several masks and the Activa is the very best! It is, without a doubt, worth every penny.

Happy sleeping! =)

Funny thing is though, on ResMed's website, the illustration seems to make it look like it's a f/f mask., yet they classify it as a nasal mask. What is it really?

it's a nasal mask, i have one too, works pretty good but nasal masks are not for me, too many probs with mouth leaks and thats even with the chinstrap. lol

Yup, Nasal mask. But the Standard just about falls off my upper lip into my mouth...I will try the Shallow as suggested by jsmythe....
