Hey guys; anyone out there! I would like a better description of these homemade gaskets that you are talking about; I'd like to pass this idea on to my cpap pts; and I'd like to try it also.

The only way to describe what these things look like, is to look at the mask and the shape of it.

You can buy paper that you can trace patterns on, trace the part of the mask that goes on the face on the tracing paper, when you cut along the line you traced, allow for a 5/8"seam on the outside and the same on the inside. You need to cut two pieces of material and you will also need polyester fiber fill.

You will sew all but about an inch so you can stuff the mask gasket to the comfort level you want. You then sew the hole shut and you are ready to go to sleep.

I haven't used this "Phart Gasket" yet. Don't really understand how it fits the mask. I just use a nasal mask, but it should work for that too. Guess I will wait until someone posts a photo.

Forgot, my settings are 12/8 for regular bipap, but I have the Auto bipap now.

The gasket lays on the area of the mask and the mask goes over the top. Your mask and headgear hold the gasket in place.

Is this a specific fix for the Hans Rudolph mask or would it work for other masks as well ?

This is the ResMed Ultra Mirage fix for all the obscene noises it makes.

Sleeper what is going on with the Hans Rudolph?

If the ca;iper reads on a boundry, you use the smaller size, if the caliper reads say 99 then you would use the Petite instead of the Extra-Small.

I am wondering if you were maeasured correctly.

The Hans Rudolph is measured by placing the caliper on the bridge of the nose and not into the indentation where the nose and the eyes meet. For the full face mask the bottom part of the caliper goes just under the chin.

The nasal mask is measured by placing the caliper in the same manner, but the bottom part of the caliper is placed in the middle of the notsrils.

Check out padacheek.com...Karen (a member here) makes liners for most masks and they last a LONG time and are not expensive. Her liners stay on the mask and don't move.

Amazing what's happened since 2005...

Tip: Another material for the home-made mask gasket would be a dried out unscented baby wipe.
I tried it--works good; now I need to settle on what mask to order the remzzz's for, as there is no way I want to do that much cutting.

How is this different from the Pad A Cheek mask liner (other than it costs less). How do you keep it in place?

It doesn't cost less when you figure you have to keep changing them every day or so. Padacheeks liners last a LONG time and are attahed to your mask, Remzzs are not attached they just sit there. If you happen to take your mask off in the night or heaven forbid lift it to scratch you will either loose it in the bedcovers or get it in a wrinkle.
