And those ports are located where on your machine? Mine doesn't use any of those types, mine used a smart card slot. You may be able to glue a cable to your smartcard, after you scrape the circuit off of it. Jim

The necessary cable has an adapter that plugs into the smart card slot and then has a cable that attaches from there to your computer. It is called a SleepLink interface card (Respironics part# 1007492).

Havent checked to see if any on the same circuitry that is on a smartcard is on the interface cable or not.

It is the same cable used to perform routine maintenance checks and calibration of the machines, oh, and it will let you set the internal clock. The clock is set to the same time that is displayed on the technicians computer. This is necessary to ensure that it passes all calibration checks.

All of the necessary software and firmware updates are available for certified people to download direct from respironics.

In my job the only time that I have encountered the M Series machine is when a patient brings one in to use during their stay at the hospital. At most I give it a once over, do an electrical safety check, and maybe check it with a manometer. I would have no idea if the BiPap firmware could be loaded into an APAP (or CPAP for that matter) and have it work, although I highly doubt that it would work. I do know that you cannot take an older "tank " machine (pre C-flex) and update the firmware to get a machine with C-flex. My guess is that there is something in ROM on the machine that dictates its operation.

Having seen the schematics and pictures of the disassembled machines on DSM's website, I have a hunch that a person could wire in a connector to the main board to interface with the serial connection on the other end of the SleepLink interface card.

No wonder my machines' clocks are slow when I get them......they're set to the clock in his computer....

I'm guessing there are some extra "parts" that are in the C-Flex machines that weren't in the pre-C-Flex machines.

Is there any way you can find out just what changes were made in different versions of the firmware? I doubt that they'll tell ME....but I might ask them, just to mess with their minds. I have machines with versions 2.5, 2.7 and now 2.8 in one I just received. I didn't particularly care for what they did in 2.7 by creating the 10-minute "pseudo-settling time" thing where it drops 10 minutes out of the beginning of the recording time after starting the machine. I figured out how to get around it, but it's kind of a PITA to do every time you want to start it up.

If you wired it in to the connector and made a mistake, you might end up with a Resmed S8 Jim

Actually the 1007492 comes with the adapter cable.

You dont need Encore Pro or the card reader.

The software is Service Center Tools Suite, and Service Center Calibration. It is propriatery software only available from Respironics.
