Carol, I had some irritation earlier this fall, and upping my humidity, and using some Neosporin during the day seems to have cleared it up.
I'll bet you did just irritate it a bit. Switch masks, and use some Ayr Gel or Neosporin during the day.
I didn't switch masks, I just doctored it with higher HH (oh boy, a big 1) and some neosporin. Cleared up fast.
For those reading this, the irritation doesn't HURT when it happens, which is why it's such a mystery. Even though its very smooth and soft silicone, just the pressure can be enough to make your nose go "HUH?" and start trying to combat the foreign infiltration.
Don't be put off by this - it's still the most comfortable mask out there.
Cheers,
Babs

Hey,
One thing about me is I am not a quiter. Do NOT tell me something is impossible, irrational, can't be done, etc. as I will proof you wrong!!
I truly believe in my half-asleep condition I just really irritated the tar out of it!! I may try again tonight if I can get it to insert and seal. After my little modified headgear that I made needs some use out of it!!!
Umm thought -- could put two cannula's together a medium or small and a large? Would have to do major surgery on the pair though -- you want to be the doctor or the nurse in charge Babs?

I just had a wonderful thought -- Jerry would you do the honors of being the surgerical doctor in the surgery of a couple of Babs cannula (shhh -- Babs doesn't know yet that I have volunteered two of her cannula for this delicate operation!!). Babs could be the lead nurse and I could do the anesthic to put them out while you do the delicate part?

What are you going to use to glue them together? Do you really want to be BREATHING that toxic glue fumes? Hmmmmm?????
I wouldn't advise it. The seam will be irritating to the upper lip, anyway.
BTW, Why don't you use your IQ headgear on your NAII? Looks like a great morph waiting to happen.
LOL,
Babs

The IQ headgear is a strange creature -- I would be very very afraid of it trying to "knock me off" if I messed with it!!!
The way it is set up I don't think it would be as practical as the one I made.
I wasn't thinking glue here on our little operation -- I figured Jerry could just take little bitty stitches -- after all he is the doc in this case and we don't want any disfigurement do we? I envision it looking like "it was made that way". A little plastic surgery can do wonders for the ego -- or so I am told.
Babs do you want it to have a bruised ego with all of the glue? Do you want to have a depressed nasal cannula because we didn't take the time to do the job up right? Do YOU want it to go ballastic on you when it wakes up one morning and realizes that at one time it was beautiful and we did a botched job?

Stiches make small leaks. How about that surgical super glue stuff, is it still toxic? I'll tell you what I tried. I took one and put the next size nub off of that sizing star and dropped it halfway in boiling water. Took it out and let it cool. Maybe it changed a little. No glue!

Okay doc you have won on this one!!!
Wouldn't we make a good team though? Only trouble is we would be like the Three Stooges -- or at least three triplets -- what one doesn't think of the other two will!!

I always mess up the boil and bite things. I even purchased one for teeth ginding for $20.00 and messed it up -- don't ask how cause I don't have a clue!!
On another thread they were worried about stretched nostrils -- if I tried to do that you can be I would be lopsided!!!

Well I must say that tonight I am going to give my poor nose a rest and use a different mask. I used the Nasal Aire last night and my nose is even worse today. It is so sore I can't hardly touch it. I do have a touch of a cold I think coming on as it has been dripping which hasn't helped things. I need to go get a NetiPot or NeilMed rinse but had a Christmas concert at school and just got home -- too late to go get some tonight. I have been using the Ayr Gel on it today though.
I figure give it a rest tonight and tomorrow night I will use the Nasal Aire again.

Hey, before I forget, Carol, your box came last night. I was too tired to open it, though. I was so beat I crawled in bed at 7:30 pm.
And then woke up at 12:30 am and couldn't go back to sleep until 4:00 am... sigh....
Will this week NEVER end???
LOL,

Boy now I have a sore nose and having trouble using the NAII and I don't have a fall back mask. My husband elbowed or punched me in his sleep and the last 2 nights I've been pretty much without BiPAP. My nose hurts so bad. I'm lucky he didn't break it. It only bleed a little. The cannula were like spikes being driven in when he hit me. I cried for like an hour after . I'm still trying to decide if I'm lucky it wasn't a different mask or not. Wondering which would hurt worse. Glad I didn't have a nasal mask though cause they push on my front teeth and cause pain on their own, I'd rather have my nose hurt than my teeth. Hope I can manage to sleep with it tonight
Carol I hope your nose feels better soon too.

I have used the Ultra Mirage nasal mask the last couple of nights instead of the Nasal Aire. I am going to go back to the Nasal Aire tonight as my nose is healing up -- have been using Ayr Gel on it to help it out.
Christy I have some nasal masks listed I would let you try if you want to see if you could get one of them to work for a back up mask.
Hope you are getting better and you are in my thoughts.
