I was did not particularly love any of the scents. I did order a bottle of the creme scent because I love the smell of vanilla. I like the idea of the product so much but I think that the essential oils that exist just aren't my cup of tea. It is strange because I really love scents. I have different kinds of air fresheners all over the house. They are all fruity scents. Lavender seems to be a favorite for many people but I don't really care for it.

I have been using the oils for several weeks now.
I like the smell of spice out of the bottle the best but didn't particularly enjoy sleeping with it. Peace had too strong of a lavender smell for me but the clear helped me sleep really well even though it wasn't so appealing when I smelled it out of the bottle. It really helps me relax and stay asleep. I have been able to stop taking the .5 mg of melatonin I was taking to stay asleep. I still wake up a bit early some mornings but there is a marked improvement and I have to say I was a bit skeptical that they would work for me because I have a lot of allergies. As a former baker I'm going to try the creme next I think that vanilla smell would lull me right to sleep.
Thanks Sleep Guy for the opportunity to try your products and please let me know if you want any further feedback.
I did have one question - what is the long ridge on the ceramic plate that holds the cloth pad used for? I was just wondering.

Hoover,
You may want to try the Creme and the Peace together.

Or the creme and fresh or spice and fresh...I'm sure the possibilities are almost endless.

I would love to trade a peace for spice. Anyone wanting to trade, please pm me with your contact info and I'll send you my peace.
Spice and Clear have helped me sleep 6-7 hrs each night. Previously, I was only getting 4-5 hrs without waking up. This product is making sleeping wonderful again!

Hoover, I'm glad to hear you're sleeping well enough to drop the melatonin. I don't like the Peace straight, either, but I use Spice all the time. It's amazing how much personal "tastes" in aromas differ; and it's all emotional--it's not like you could ever talk someone into liking or dis-liking any given smell. The ridge on the ceramic is just so you can get a good hand-hold--that's all.

Based on feedback and contacts I've been pursuing outside of the forum, I've decided to add a line of 5-7 new fragrances, all synthetic but very high quality and universally liked.
Candidate "flavors" include:
Cotton Candy or Bubble Gum
Cherry
Coconut or Coconut Cream
Vanilla
Banana or Banana Cream
Root Beer
Chocolate
Grape
Apple
I have listed them generally in order of preference (so far). Out of a few dozen versions of "cherry" I've found one that's particularly good and persistent--it works very well. Same with a cotton candy fragrance I found among many. I like these both quite a bit. It remains to be seen whether I can find a chocolate that's good enough quality to use. The ones I've tried so far aren't that good. But I'm going to keep trying. The most I will add would be seven so I'd appreciate feedback and suggestions as to ones I should consider.
The main idea is to select fragrances that people already know and enjoy. These candidates are used so widely in our society (particularly in candy/pop/suntan oil) that even though they are artificial we all know these fragrances, they are very familiar, and have a high acceptance rate.
One focus of this exercise is the sleep lab setting, as well as pediatric cpap. I think these universal kinds of fragrances will do well in those environments.
Thoughts? Comments?

What about bacon?
Just kidding
I'm all for the coconut and bubble gum though ... banana might be good too.

I would
never use or purchase a synthetic fragrance. From everything that I have read on the subject, these are the products that cause most of the problems and reactions that people (and animals) have with essential oil use.

Just for what it is worth -- and I have been known to change my mind -- but hey I am a female.
I don't think I would tolerate a synthetic fragance due to past reactions to various scents in air freshners, cologne, etc. For me the scent of food would just make me hungry and I would want to eat -- I already eat too much so that might be a problem for me.
I do love your spice scent but I think the citrus in it reminds me of clean and fresh and not necessarily food. Those oils are natural and so are great.

I like one drop of Spice and one drop of Clear.
They go really well together, and last for 2 days before needing to add more.
I really like the aroma's and will definitely purchase more when I get low.
I put the pad on the bottle and then tip the bottle, it only gets one drop and
works well that way.
Thanks Sleep Guy, for the free trial of an excellent product.
Previously I was kickapoo but can't log on with that name any more.

I vote for chocolate, coconut and banana and I be they would be great mixed. Why can't they be essential oils vs. synthetic?
Thanks SleepGuy

Hey Hoover. I wish there were more choices in natural aromatics. Bananas, berries, fruits, and most flowers just don't yield essential oils or, if they do, in quantities that are remotely commercially feasible. I did buy some real chocolate essential oil, distilled from cocao beans, and it's absoultely fantastic but probably worth about its weight in gold. It's because you have to pay for all of those cocao beans that are destroyed in the process of making the essential oil. The same is true with flowers. I'm not sure why fruits don't yield natural aromatics. Anyway, all of that "coconut" suntan scented oil you've ever used is actually a fake smell, as phony as a Rolex in Taiwan. But that's not to say it's a bad smell, either. I'm kind of partial to it.
I'm making some progress on this front and will probably be asking for some feedback on new flavor candidates--about 3 weeks out from now, just in time for Christmas I guess.
