Echo,

I find that when I am the busiest is when i NEED knitting the most. It is so soothing!

There are two main ways to knit things in a spiral/tube. One is with the circular needle, or a needle that is a cord with points on each end. (It can also be used to knit flat things--so this is the only type of kntting needle I buy.) The other way is with the double pointed needles which come in sets of 4 or 5. You don't use them all at once, just 2 at a time. One to knit with and one holding the next stitches you are knitting with. If someone shows you once you will get it!

You might want to knit another scarf or a hat before diving into a sweater. sweaters can be long-term friends but hard work for a beginner!

Just in case someone wants to get a lovely hose cover made to order, we have a member of the forum who makes excellent ones. I haven't seen her here for a bit but I have several of her covers and bought them for my family members who need them. They are made of soft fleece and nicely finished. I definitely liked them better than the other one I bought online that was skimpy and made of cheap fleece.

I think I may get an extra long cover next time to try for extra coziness.

Check her web page, http://www.comfortsleve.com to see the sizes, colors and special stuff she can do for your hose cover.

I am not affiliated with her company in any way except that I met her on cpaptalk.

Yay, I finally sewed a 3 foot soft curderoy hose cover by hand! Yes, the hose is 6 feet long so i'm done done yet

Jen, i think you're right on both accounts: knitting is GREAT for relaxing, and I should indeed practice before i tackle the sweater... it's been like 2 years since i've knitted anything!
