I am so new to all this your post is just awesome.
I am in that HORRIBLE wait period. Had my titration last Monday night and don't see my doc until this Wednesday and am miserable!
Seriously, more miserable with the affects of Apnea than ever. The one good night only magnified the misery of not sleeping.
I feel like I am on the verge of tears from the exhaustion since the titration. And "uneffected/normal" people don't get it!
This forum is a great find....thanks to a colleague that was disgnosed about 7 or 8 months before me......

I always appreciate your upbeat and supportive attitude, and your sense of humor with the mask contests.
I hope you will do post number 1002 with the answer to Babette's question -- why the name birdshell? Inquiring minds want to know.

OK, Babette and JZ--I've posted this before on a "how did you get your screen name?" thread, so there is no secret.
"birdshell" was my first nickname. It was first used by a friend my freshman year in college and was based on my last name. It stuck; and I had always thought it would be a good CB handle. When computers became more pervasive, it became my screen name.
Not overly dramatic, is it? There you have it, for what it is worth!

P.S. If my avatar search had found this animation, the infamous porcupine (or hedgehog) in a gas mask would never have been posted. I would find the hatching bird at a thousand posts!

Hijacking threads around here is NOT hijacking! Rather it is giving additional information such that the digression is more of a tangent to the topic.
We have a member here who chose to be called Tangents--it was actually a perfect name for this forum. Sometimes we find out the best things when we are not expecting them!
And Babs: If I changed things, then how would I truly be KNOWN to you all? This way, those quickly browsing the forum are able to decide at a glance if it truly is my posting--given the prior knowledge that my postings are brown text, font size=12 and there is a creature in a gas mask as an avatar. For example, this one has one change--font size is up a bit--and doesn't it seem to change things? Or is it just my perceptions? (I spent over 30 years trying to make my text communicate effectively.)
It is the hint of mystery that is most alluring, isn't it?

Dear birdshell,
thanks for the 1000'th post - it really is a privilege to be able to learn from people like yourself on this forum.. without all of you, I would have been so lost in this OSA maze!!
And I love your avatar, it keeps drawing me back to your posts ...
I've now hit two major milestones this week, not very noteworthy, but still : (1) using CPAP with a cold, (2) I just bought some silicon glue for my activa elbow, my first xPAP DIY! weeeee.....
