Hello folks..

I'm a new user who just got a Respironics M series APAP machine. According to the websites I've seen it at, it is ONLY compatible with Encore Pro v1.8.

I don't know if that means Encore Viewer WON'T work with it, or if it means only that version of Encore Pro supports the APAP version of machine.

Being the geek that I am I'd love EP, but would settle for EV if it works.

Does anyone happen to know?

Why don't you buy it and let us know?
You could even write up an in-depth report on it.

Seriously though, it's MY understanding that it's compatible with all existing machines that would use the 1.8 or older/previous versions of Encore Pro.

The term "APAP" is kind of generic, referring to all Auto-titrating/adjusting CPAP machines.
The REMstar Auto with A-Flex is just ONE of those that would be categorized as an APAP.

but gee, do I detect a little animosity simply because I wasn't model-specific enough in my first post? Wasn't I thoughtful enough to correct myself in the second post?

Maybe I was a little tired when I wrote that entry.. but believe me, I spent MANY hours online researching cpaps and personally went and ordered the A-flex machine over some others.


Anyway glad to be part of the forum.. and extremely happy to have had 2 restful nights so far!!!

I don't think those comments were directed at you or intended to say anything negative about you.

I'm happy that your M Series w/ A-flex is working well for you! I love mine!

Regarding your earlier question, probably the only way to find out which version(s) is compatible with the M Series A-flex and whatever operating system you have on your computer is to call Respironics tech support. In an earlier post on this item, someone listed the number to call for support with Encore Viewer. That's probably your best best.

(If you call, please ask them whether buyers of EV can somehow get minor updates & bug fixes for free, and let us know. Thanks!)

I have Encore Pro. Based on reading the user reviews and product literature for Encore Viewer, it sounds like EV does everything the end user needs, while the extra functionality in EP is for doctors who manage databases of multiple patients. Thus, I'm not sure that EP would make the geek in you happier than EV.

Don't know if I really got confirmation on which sw works with the A-Flex box.. presumably EV works with them all and EP 1.8 (aside from having a db) is required to access the A-flex settings? I'm presuming that EP gives you control over machine settings so you don't have to enter data from the buttons, a nice convenience.

Thanks for the link Den, I didn't see it before.. I think I'm going to hold out for a while longer before making a purchase on plain EV.

The next thing on my mind is finding a taller mask. My large-size Comfort 2 has trouble with my big nose if I slide the mask low enough to be comfortable around the mouth. I might look into a hybrid even though I'm a mouth breather due to frequent sinus blockage. Still, the fact that I've been wide awake these past few nights makes it all worth it!

well maybe if they leave it at $140 per copy, maybe James will see the light and write his own software and sell it for $99. Once you come out with a version it is just a matter of duplication.

I just now did a Google search for the words Respironics Encore Viewer.

Turned up several more sites selling Encore Viewer now. I didn't look through all of them, but at least one had it for $109.00 with free shipping.

Doesn't include the card reader, of course. But the correct card reader can be bought for about $30 which includes shipping at:

Now if we only had something for Resmed machines. Sadly, my conversation I had with them left me feeling it would be a cold day in H*ll before we might get a similar product.

Oh well.
