I have been on Cpap since July and am still gaining weight. I have cronic insomnia in addition to moderate sleep apnea. I have the apnea under control (although recently not tolerating my mask as well as I had been) but we are still trying to get the insomnia and sleep structure fixed.
So weight loss has not happened for me yet. I am still not feeling refreashed in the morning and my energy levels are still very low. I just started my third type of insommnia medicine so hopefully this will help some. I have not slept well for so long that the doctor thinks my body has forgotten how.
I had one fluke night a couple of weeks ago where I actually slept for 6 hours with only two awakenings. Normally I cannot sustain 2 hours uninterrupted and average a nights total of maybe three hours of very sporatic sleep with only a few minutes in stage three and never entering stage four sleep. Anyway after that one night I felt so great that next day that I accomplished what normally would take me a week. I think once my energy levels come back to a reasonable level maybe I will be able to sustain a exercise program athat will help with the weight.
I thank those that have posted their less that spectular results on this subject. You keep my hoe alive that over time I will regain my life and my health and may even loose a few unwanted pounds. -Magpie
