I found a spirit before it was pulled on ebay, emailed the seller, told him/her it would be pulled and here is my email. I made an offer and got a great apap machine, mask (although I still use my
activa) carrying case,
hose shipped for $300.
Of course it was pulled by ebay.

Best Buy, CPAPs-R-Us? Sounds like the big retail chains all want in on the inevitable
CPAP gold rush. Say, did you get that blower down at the
CPAP Shack? Nah... I got mine at the drive thru window down at McPAP's. I got a super sized value deal with a longer
hose and extra mask! I was gonna get one of those twisted French blowers down at Dunkin CPAPs, but they all looked kinda.... stale!
Wonder how Mr. Farrell pressured eBay to pull CPAPs? With the argument that eBay consumers might hurt themselves with off-channel CPAPs? Nah! That couldn't be the same Mr. Farrell that just announced the only way anyone could get hurt by
CPAP was by being hit on the head with one...

He did it cuz the
DME's complained to
Resmed. See with all the low compliance cuz of crummy masks etc, they had to eliminate the evidence...

I doubt the
DME complained. The
DME are still learning there is an APAP with
CFLEX. I think
Resmed sees the "20 percent growth of CPAP machines" and are ready to cash in.
The large home health care companies are finally seeing the business opportunites and the money that can be made treating OSA.

I think we should start our own
cpap manufacturing company. What do you think?
Anyone got a big garage, some
hose, and a vaccum cleaner pump?

And we could provide trial masks to everyone. Then the ones that are returned, we just sterilize them and have others try them out to see what works for them.
We need a catchy name.

Resmed, we don't need no stinkin
Resmed. Their NEW S-8 isn't so small after all. I'll stic with the 420. Small, lightweight, software less $. 420 less $$ also. Its French so its PC. I went to a castle in Warwick, England.
It survived intact thru all the wars because they always changed sides to the winning army during battle. I wonder if the owners were French

I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist, but this sounds like "plausible rationale" to me. It might be contrived, true, or just partially true rationale, but it very conveniently removes the onus of
Resmed's eBay-pressuring tactics from
Resmed. They did it for the
DME's. That almost sounds selfless!
Mikesus wrote:See with all the low compliance cuz of crummy masks etc, they had to eliminate the evidence...
That's a plausible sounding motive to me, Mike. Compliance failures are essentially removed from "easy public view" this way. In addition, used
CPAP sales generate absolutely no additional revenue for
Resmed or any other manufacturer. At best used CPAPs represent past sales to
Resmed. If compliance rates are low, and used CPAPs can be had cheaply in abundance, then there will be much revenue foregone from those who sell brand new CPAPs. Remove used
CPAP sales from eBay and not one, but two
Resmed objectives are very nicely accomplished: 1) Public perception of
CPAP's efficacy is no longer compromised, and 2) used
CPAP sales (which deny
Resmed additional revenue) can no longer compete with new
CPAP sales.
