Wouldn't that be nice, being able to just ship them all away?
I don't think my mailbox could hold them all.
But wouldn't be nice, to be able to end someone's, everyone's suffering?

This used to be a very good informative Forum. Where are you people going with this kind of conversations? Private posts/emails would do you justice so rest of us could continue without politics/religion/ and who is smartest of you all. Also, Admin should at least have some say into keeping this Forum for what it was intended!

Lana,

Please forgive me, but I must say I disagree. Yes, we should stick to sleep apnea as much as possible. But I think the topic feature is a great thing. It enables people, who by the way have sleep apnea, to express themselves in other ways. Topics such as special wishes or pictures can be easily ignored. That's the beauty of having topics. There are so many topics to choose from in any given day. I don't choose to read them all, I will select the ones I think might be useful to me at the time. Some days I want to read about masks, others not.

This forum is a great place for us sufferers to vent and express ourselves sometimes. Many of us feel quite alone with our newfound problems with OSA. Expressing ourselves, even if not on a directly OSA-related topic, is a form of release. Depression and loneliness and self-pity are often unwanted bedfellows to OSA sufferers. So personally, I don't begrudge anyone from going off the subject every now and then.

If many posters really feel this is a problem, then perhaps the Admin might consider adding a separate posting spot where forum members can discuss stuff or vent stuff that might seem unrelated to OSA. Only a thought.

But that would not necessarily prevent the occasional drift off the OSA themes, even in OSA topics. It happens, we divert. We are human. That's what's so great about this forum, it speaks to our human condition. There's more to us than our sleep apnea. We vent sometimes or get nutty sometimes, simply to remind ourselves there's more to us than our apnea.

Forgive my vent.

Linda

P.S. -- As proof of this, just look at the number of views on topics (many viewers don't even post comments). You will find some of the non-OSA topics, like this one, have a high number of views. Must be a need out there for such expression, don't you think?

My wish would be that Guests and folks that don't want to read certain types of posts, would just ignore them...

Lana, Johnny Goodman has announced that he intends this message board as a "support group"---not necessarily an "apnea information disseminating vehicle". There is a subtle distinction between those two.

In the real world support groups tend to have a primary and common purpose, but will also allow for amiable socializing after the primary topics have been discussed. For many, but not all of us, a little humor and off-topic chit chat is much needed support.

No offense intended, but my suggestion to anyone who doesn't like the chit chat is to simply move on to the topics that you do happen to like.

We have managed to take a cold, inpersonal, lonely and frustrating, subject and made it personal. How great is that really? VERY! The medical business is so dry and matter-a-fact. Let's face it, it's all about money for them. And outside the business, no one elses knows about much less cares about this illness, no one wants to listen to us. Add to that so many of us are up late sleepless when there is no one else to talk to and we are feeling down. I think this forum does a service and I personally don't want it to be a strict, stay on the thread, cold forum...though many know my thoughts on this

Personally, I think we have built a kind of family with kindred spirits. I think we would run out of things to talk about if all we talked about were masks/machines.

Honestly, we try to help each and everyone who have problems as they come up, in the meantime, in order to make the time pass...some of us--like myself, like to dig into the hearts and minds of others and share myself as well.

If it bothers anyone, please let me know and I will not post ever again.

Thanks,

Heidi

Heidi,

Are you kidding? God, we LOVE your posts!
I know I do!

You started this interesting thread and we thank you. You will also note that there have been over 700 views of your topic. Pretty amazing! That means that many people out there were drawn to your topic, whether or not they posted to it. Keep that in mind. Those views speak volumes as to how valued you are!

And I bet you agree most of us appreciate each other's posts and respect their right to express themselves. Never let a few coerce the mass majority to be any different. You better never go. If you go, I go, let me know where you're going. But I don't want you going anywhere. You're wanted. Always go where you're wanted, I'd say.

Linda

Don't stop writing......anyone........

I even had my husband asking me about various posters on this cpap.com forum, and I had to give my husband updates on Liam and how he was doing back when. I agree, if someone doesn't like the msgs. trailing off into other ''interesting items", there's always the back/forward button to click away into a different subject.
I so agree, that no one really understands even our loved (and not so loved) ones, and coming into cpap.com to browse even if one doesn't post for awhile is always informative, at times entertaining, but always useful and so important. I would know nothing if it weren't for this msg board and cpap.com. I am grateful.
