My wish would be that there was no such thing as mental illness. I think the world would be a much happier and safer place to live in.
I agree that having physical health is of utmost importance, but I've lost two family members to suicide and watched my mom suffer my whole life. Now looking back I can see that I have also suffered with mild depression. The OSA put me over the edge into clinical depression before I started
CPAP.
I originally thought my wish would be that she were alive again, but that wouldn't do any good if she were here and still miserable.
So I guess physical and mental health above all else would be my wish for every person in this world. In my opinion, if you have both of those and a relationship with Christ, you can learn to be content.
Philippians 4:11-13 " I'm not saying that because I need anything. I have learned to be content no matter what happens to me. I know what it's like not to have what I need. I also know what it's like to have more than I need. I have learned the secret of being content no matter what happens. I am content whether I am well fed or hungry. I am content whether I have more than enough or not enough. I can do everything by the power of Christ. He gives me strength."
I'm not sure if I've ever experienced the having more than I need yet though....but maybe someday????

Give me the luxuries of life and I will willingly do without the necessities.

Sigh!
Good health? Money? Man, I wish everyone could accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, then everything else would not really matter. Actually everyone COULD accept....I should say... WOULD!!

Boy, I really hope we can stop with the proselytizing. Pushing one's faith on others who do not share it is really not conducive to a cordial exchange of information, and one of the quickest ways to cause a net-fight.
For example, I could make the joke that went through my head earlier, in response to Heidi, "Sure, a WOMAN can have a relationship with Christ, but if I guy does, the Republicans would tell them they can't marry", but I decided that would just be baiting people, so I didn't.
(Of course, now I've done it... Oh well, carry on.)
Liam, hoping to keep the peace.

A wish to me is a fantasy!
I can appreciate those that you all have chosen such high didactic and positive wishes for all mankind.
Me.............I am sticking with a rich/young/hot/blond/nymphomaniac who owns a liquor store on a golf course, and who has a desire to be with a balding/overwight/sixtyish man who sleeps with a
hose in his nose and a sense of humor.

Liam,
Please don't start.....this is my wish and my opinion. I didn't push anything on anyone else.
These are my thoughts and I am opening up my heart to you people, please don't try to crush me...

I know, and I wasn't going to say anything, until busman317 jumped in and started proselytizing. Your comment came across just as your personal beliefs, and that's fine.
Busman317 started pushing that belief structure on others, instead of merely espousing it for himself. That's the point at which it crossed the line from "personal information" to "annoying preaching".
Liam, who still thinks that ORGANIZED religion is responsible for more ills in this world than pretty much anything else.
(And I do mean organized. People's personal religious beliefs usually lead them to behave in moral and ethical ways. Organized religions tend to breed extremists who hijack planes and crash them into buildings. So much for not wanting to start a religious war.)

Wow, and I didn't even quote a bible verse!
This may backfire as well, but here goes: Momma always said, "Some people got something to say, and there are others that just gotta say something."
No, apologies here. Not letting anyone drag me down. Let's keep it positive.

And which one, pray tell, do you THINK you are?
Liam.

I've subscribed to the same philosophy for years. I'm not against Christianity, I'm against Churchianity! Or any other ORGANIZED religion - when it stops becoming a belief and becomes a business.

Ah, but you'll note, I never complained about Sleeping With The Enemy's comment, she merely mentioned her beliefs, as did I.
My complaint was with the comment that was trying to tell everyone ELSE what they should believe.
Tell me you believe UFOs exist, and I'll respect you for your belief (although I may not agree with it). Tell me that *I* should believe UFOs exist, and imply that if I don't, I'm stupid or damned or something, and that's when it's a problem.
So I have not violated my own rules. I haven't told anyone ELSE that they should believe that Organized religion is evil, wrong, or a blight on society, I've merely said that that was MY belief.
Liam, grumpy.

Liam:
All busman317 did was say what his wish was. He did not invite anyone to any group/meeting/event, did not go on at length, is not likely to show up at your door for a chat. Nothing of what he said sounded to me as proselytizing. He just shared his wish in response to the question asked.
Would it be possible for you,
Liam, to please slow down and not take offense as quickly? You could have sent busman317 a private message asking him is he was proselytizing or, you could have waited for a day or two to see if his message turned into something further. Instead, you made a huge statement
Boy, I really hope we can stop with the proselytizing. Pushing one's faith on others who do not share it...
that is way out of proportion.
The problematic part of this thread is not busman317's stated wish, it is your over-the-top response to it.
I'm not going to comment further on this. I just hope to continue to enjoy and learn from this forum without the bashing.

Then he'll be happy !
