My Dr. doesn't think there's enough research to suggest a machine with software would be effective .
Do you mean software that lets the machine do self adjusting - i.e. an aumatic machine, or do you mean software that lets you monitor your own therapy?

Studies about self titrating machines are not that very condlusive about their advantages, though the results can be argued about.
However, since you're doing your own adjusting anyway studies on that subject are irrelevant. You can either convince the doctor that it would be better and safer for you to have software that lets you monitor your therapy and the changes you make. Or else, look for another doctor.

You're not planning to come back to this doc in a month or two with pressure so different from what s/he prescribed, and behave as though it didn't happen. So why wait? At worst, this doctor may refuse to give you therapy if you change the pressure. At best, you'll become parters in searching for a solution.

There's plenty of data to substantiate that the doc doesn't want you to know how your treatment is going.
Heaven forbid, you might get smarter than he is when it comes to your condition......
I'd ask him what he's afraid of??? "Worried I might find out you don't know what the #^$# you're talking about???"

just a couple pennies (docs with that attitude really piss me off!!!!)

cheers
