OMG, Bret!

i just went and checked the bottles and sorry, i did receive a spice...i was thinking of fresh! i got my oranges mixed up...

i tend to refer to them as orange, peppermint, vanilla etc, or i get confused...not as bright as i used to be

last night i used lavender and creme...very nice

and i just woke up from a nap--one hour, like a normal person!--and i used the same combo and had a great sleep! normally--as in pre cpap--my 'naps' were 2-3 hours long, fitful and full of wakeups and i'd arise feeling groggy and more tired than when i went down...of course i didn't know that this was due to more time in apnea ; i've been able to go without napping since starting cpap, but today i took one because i'm going out tonight and wanted to be able to keep up; i feel great, rested, refreshed, ready to hit the town!

thanks sleepguy

Sharon,

You might not be allergic to lavender, but to all the pollen from grass and trees that had settled on to it and was blowing off of it--directly into your breathing space.

I'm so envious ... I have no sense of smell. Can't smell gas, can't smell smoke, can't smell skunks ... or any of the good stuff in life either And my husband makes me do all the stinky jobs b/c of it.

Lavender itself has pollen, which may cause an allergic reaction to the particulate versus the airborne scent attached to it. For example, on the scratch test I'm not allergic to pine tree, but when the pine pollen is green and thick on everything outdoors, I better stay indoors. One year I swept it off the decks and jacuzzi etc and had a huge sinus reaction.

Good point. I'm allergic to corn pollen, according to a scratch test, but haven't had any trouble consuming it from what I can tell. I am pretty in tune with these things since I'm allergic to dairy and soy. So, maybe essential oils of lavender won't bother you, but lavender pollen does. Who knows! Crazy, isn't it!

got my pur-sleep - a way to keep costs down

Hi:

Bought pur-sleep and arrived in mail. I was charged $7.95 for shipping.

It arrived in a priority United States Post Office mail package which cost $4.60 to ship.

Although I am not happy to be charged double what it costs to ship, here is a suggestion to sleep guy to keep his costs down and perhaps give the consumer a break:

The product itself weighs 10 oz. Wrap it good with bubble wrap and put in a poly mailer and send first class. This would cost about $2. the mailer will cost about 10 cents.

Anyhow i cant wait to try it

Lindy

I have a bipap with heated humidifier and swift mirage. it says to arrange so that the top of the diffuser is about one inch below the air intake.

Where is the air intake? Is it where I attach the hose?

Does the oil scent actually go through the hose to my nostrils or does this just scent the room?

Thanks for your help .

The air intake is at the back of the machine where the foam filter is located by the power cord.

Glad to hear you got the shipment. I've tried first class but it's impossible to trace and have had to replace lost product. Priority Mail is very good service. I've set up the shipping as a flat rate charge. The basic starter package is relatively light but the other ones are heavier than 1st class will accept and depending on where they're shipped, cost as much as $8, not counting the time and labor involved. Believe me, shipping is not a profit center. I'm working hard to keep the overall retail pricing low; based on traditional markups the retail pricing would be much higher.

first class

When you print your shipping labels on line - .14 cents will get you the same delivery confirmation as priority.

Hi Lindy, as noted, the air intake is where the air filter is, typically on the back of the machine. The design is for the air to pick up a small amount of the scent as it's being drawn into the machine so it comes out of your mask.

The diffuser is not designed to scent an entire room though depending on how sensitive your sense of smell may be (and how much EO you use) it will probably provide a bit of scent in the room.

I got my Pur-Sleep the same day as I got my new ResMed s8 Vantage.

I have to tell you that I will never sleep on APAP again without my Pur-Sleep.

I love all of the oils, but the clear is definitely my favorite. I didn't think I would like it, but I love it!

I usually do a drop of clear with whatever else I'm in the mood for.

Thanks SleepGuy for a great product!!

I am loving the Pur-Sleep just because of the scent and relaxation benefit, but I'm curious about those of you posting that your AHI is dropping.

I posted earlier that I had two really good nights, but my machine didn't pick up the data. I "think" I did better, but I couldn't get any numbers to prove it.

Last night I used the Peace (lavendar) fragrance, which is my fav. The data was picked up on my card this time. I was very happy! I had ONE apnea episode of 9 seconds. ONE! Zero Hypopneas. Now, I'm going to have to let this run out for a week or so to see if it is a lasting trend, but ONE apnea!

Is there a clinical reason that the use of EOs would lower AHI?
