In a direct meaning of ED I could not post any complains. I was always able to perform when I needed to. However “WHEN I NEED IT” was a different issue. Because when you are in a constant fog for years, and depressed and don’t exactly know what is going on with you – sex is a last thing you are thinking about. My sleep apnea definitely made my desire minimal. Things changed after I started CPAP.

I think there is a lot more to it than just lack of sleep and tiredness. I think sleep apnea affects something at a more fundamental level and causes lower libido. My dopamine levels where quite low before going on CPAP. Maybe all the adrenaline used to constantly wake one up to start breathing doesn't leave much tyrosine left to make dopamine (just a very wild guess)

I wonder if there are often concomitant factors, such as depression, poor circulation caused by obesity and/or diabetes, exhaustion etc. If we subtract those causes, we may find that there is a much smaller subset of untreated OSA patients with oxygen desaturation, for whom OSA alone produces erectile limitations.
I know that for myself it is impossible to quantify how much decrease in intimate activity is the result of stress, life issues, middle age and so forth and how much is due to decreased strength and firmness caused by OSA. I have never noticed a problem in that department but do not have the same performence at 50 that I had at 20... which is pretty universal.

Good point. For me personally, I suffered from depression which I now believe was caused in large part by the sleep apnea, and the antidepressants I was on definitely had an impact on my libido (although no ED, thank God). When I treated the apnea, I got off the antidepressants, and my libido has returned to normal, although it's difficult to say if that's due to no more drugs, or no more apnea, or both.

ED and other "libido" problems...

Perhaps before you all go down this road of the CPAP Machine, etc....
How about having all your HORMONES TESTED???
That means for men, Total Testosterone(and Free), HGH, Thyroid (T3, T4, Free) and Adrenals. For women........check your Estrogen, Progesterone, Thyroid, Adrenals, and HGH......and if any of you, Man or Woman use anything but a Bioidentical Hormone, you are asking for trouble........
Good luck!

Huh?

If you have been diagnosed with sleep apnea you should treat the apnea regardless! Then if that doesn't work with the sexual problem then look for other causes.

Valeria - You aren't very knowledgeable in the area of Sleep Apnea are you? If you were you would know that sexual dysfunction is a symptom just like snoring is when you have SA.

All people on CPAP's have been diagnosed by having a sleep study by medical personal to confirm that they indeed have sleep apnea before they use CPAP machines!!
