I use it on 3 in the winter and as passover in the summer (I am in the northeast). If I don't use it when it is dry, I pay and my sinuses drip and hurt all the next day or two.

I started with a passover and could not tell ay difference, so I do not use anything at all.

I live at sea level in Jax, fl.

I do not think a HH would be of benefit to me at all and do not think it is all that important for others who are convinced it is necessary.

It probably helps in low humidity areas in colder months,

I have the humidifier on 1 - 1.5 year round. When I have a cold, or am stuffed up for any reason, I turn it up to about 3. Any more than 3 and I can't stand the mugginess of the air. I do use the Aussie heated hose -it is an amazing invention.

I've forgotten, on occasion, to turn the heater on which, in this case, it is just functioning as a passover. I've actually slept well while with the heat off.

The original M Series machines/humidifier tanks had a leak. You should be able to return the units to your DME and have them replaced. Perhaps someone here can direct you to a previous post discussing the leaking tanks. I think it had something to do with an elbow or swivel.

I need mine on max or I get dry (when it's around 3) or have a burning sensation in my throat almost immediately when I don't use it.

It's certainly necessary for me as I can't even tolerate CPAP without it. (And I can't sleep without my CPAP, therefore, humidifier please.)

I don't use my passover humidifier at all. I don't find any difference, so I quit using it.

I have asthma and allergies and all the meds dry me out enough already. I welcome the moist air. Even when I had it on 3 I woke up and had almost lost my voice, and my throat hurt pretty bad. But I am still a newbie...so my ideas may change, or they may not.

I got one the day I recieved my first Cpap Machine from Apria Ripoff Oh that should Be Apria Health Care.

I have never used it it's still in the box.
As of today two years.

During the winter months I only have it set at 1 maybe 2. During the summer months I use passover humidification but also fill it with cold distilled water out of the refrigerator and love the cool humidifed air that I breathe in as I go to sleep. It is wonderful!

It's interesting to me how different asthmatics have different triggers. I also have asthma, and heat and humidity are my two biggest triggers. The first night I used my heated humidifier, I nearly had my first asthma attack in 10 years.

I skip the humidifier entirely - but never have any dryness problems. Well, OCCASIONALLY dry nares - but not often.

In my 2 and something years' experience, a dried out mouth is the result of mouth leaks - something no humidifier can handle. When air rushes out through your open mouth it dries it out. I know (from reading, not personal experience) that a dried out mouth is frequently a problem even for full face mask users - your profile doesn't show what kind of mask you use. It you are mouthleaking, you might want to look for ways to control it.
