I am a 4th grade teacher, a mom, and youth group leader. I also sing in the church choir and play handbells. I had a feeling that some of you folks were in technical professions the way you throw information around.
By the way, sleeping, I think you have the toughest job on the list. I'm home on spring break now, and my kids are both sick. They're 2 and 5 and never stop fighting/horsing around (yes, both boys). I am very impressed by and envious of you!

wader, a fair question! LOL
I was born and raised in da swamps of SW Louisiana..yep, a true Cajun, on both my Mom and Dad's sides of the family. I've spent much time in Texas, especially in the Houston/Galveston area. That's where I got my start on computers and online communication and began the nick TXKajun quite a few years ago. In some circles (which we do NOT need to go into here lolol) I have a bit of a reputation from several years ago as TXKajun or as Kajun, so when we moved here to NM, I kept the nick.
Also, Sweetie and Bunny, our 8 year old.....her son, my step son... are full blooded Native American from Canada (Native American/Canadian....ain't that confusing, too?). Sweetie has a nice little ebay business under the name "wispywarz". And Bunny is in school, finally doing good enough to make it to the third grade.
Oh, yes, we also have a Bearded Dragon lizard named Godzilla...about 24" long and just as friendly as can be! LOLOL

I've done several things in my life. I was a single mom with one child at 19 and started out processing claims for a large insurance company. Then I worked as a legal secretary (I think they call them paralegals now although back in my day, a paralegal was more like a law clerk) for about 6 years. I remarried, had another child, and became a stay-at-home mom. I had a couple of more kids over the next 10 years and did part-time work at night to supplement our income when needed. I did everything from selling portrait packages to babysitting. We decided to homeschool our kids so I did homeschooling for 18 years. My youngest graduated in 2004 and joined the Air Force last September so I thought I would try to go back to work. It seems nobody wanted to hire someone that had been out of the work force that long. It turned out to be a pretty good thing because one of my daughters is pregnant and due in May and has asked me to take care of the baby when she goes back to work in July. She works in human resources in a very large snack company and can make a whole lot more than I could. This is like an answer to prayer for me. I'm really excited about starting the whole adventure again. I have one granddaughter that will be 14 in May but she's too grown up to want to have much to do with old granny now. My life hasn't been too exciting and I don't do anything very sophisticated, but I enjoy every minute of what I do (which right now is repainting the outside of my house. What a gorgeous day we have here in North Texas!!!). This is probably more information than anybody wanted to know but you asked for it.

My first profession job was as a legal secretary. I worked for a workers' compensation/personal injury lawyer and hated it.
I then went to work for a very small firm that did criminal defense. It was very interesting. On my lunch breaks or when things were really exciting I go watch my boss during trials. The worst case was a double homicide case. The guy beat an old man with a baseball bat so I heard all I ever wanted to hear about blood splatters from an expert. The second murder was an old lady that he stabbed in the back and threw down her basement stairs. My boss handled lots of drug dealers/prostitutes and rape cases. It was interesting but stressful and when the dealers would come in and I would have to lock the door and count their retainer fees which sometimes was huge amounts of cash I was counting out. It was a little nerve racking. After I burned out on that, I went to work for a divorce attorney. I got sick of all the fighting so took a break and then started school for LPN.
I'm half way through obtaining my RN but not really sure I want to do that because I can't stand nights and weekends and working with lots of women can be really catty and I don't do well with that. I grew up with 5 brothers and no sisters. I have four sons, I think God knew what he was doing.
My husband raises Registered Line One Herefords and feeds out cattle and a small amount of hogs. We also have several barn cats, a Border Collie named "Toby", a Maine Coon tom who goes in/out, and another cat inside "Jasmine". We have a spanish goat named "Billy" and that is about it.

This was a great idea! The variety of individuals is really cool!
I am a Paralegal in a Family Law firm, which means divorces, child support, custody, etc. . . While is it probably not the happiest of area of law, I enjoy it because I get to help people through a very difficult time, and that is rewarding. (It is no wonder I have trouble sleeping! HA HA) I have been doing this for 13 years and can say no two days are the same. I have worked for essentially the same firm the whole time and can honestly say they have been real good to me. As for personal, I have been married for nearly a year, but have been with my husband for almost 10 years. No kids yet, but hopefully soon. Right now the center of our life is our Yellow Lab, Shrek! It is because of him that I want to be able to get good night's sleep so I have the energy to enjoy playing with him!
The advice on this forum has been awesome! Keep it coming. I hope one day I will be able to return the favors!

Wow--incredible dogs! I have a rottie that I adore. (along with another dog, 7 cats, and some fish).
Anyway, back on topic...
I am a sales associate/office manager for an insurance agency. I've been doing insurance since 1998. My dream is to work with animals in some capacity...either as a vet tech or in training or doggie day care.

I think a different title would be good, but don't know how to do it or even if it is possible.
