So what happens if you have bought a machine off of auction or other private sale, and later there is a new recall? According to the ResMed website on this recall,
Q: How do patients receive their new S8 device?

Most patients will receive notification from their medical equipment supplier on how to obtain a new S8 flow generator.
So what about the poor schlobs who bought used machines other than through a DME? Are they just out of luck?

i had 2S8 escapes - bought overseas (in US) & so I contacted Resmed Aust & they unhesitatingly replaced both - no arguments that I bought them on Yahoo auctions. I told the where i got them.

Their respons impressed me quite a bit.

Yeah, generally with recalls, most companies don't argue as long as the serial matches the main listing. They don't need/want any type of bad pr...let alone end up in court over a fire or even worse.

Yes, ResMed has replaced all of those defective machines...and they were all scrapped. Maybe I'm not quite thinking straight, but it seems to me that they could have been repaired/restored and distributed to those who do not have adequate insurance or funds but NEED treatment.

However, I don't know about soldering to the motherboard, so...I could be wrong.

P.S. Although I had mine replaced, the "bad" DME (who has messed up a few other CPAP equipment problems) still is sending me letters to say that I need to bring mine in for replacement. Hey, do you think I could get a new machine again? LOL

Yes, these replies are very comforting.
Looking forward to the arrival of my machine......and telling
the DME to come pick up their costly rental! Glad to hear
Resmed will back their product even in a private sale.
