I would be nice if the firmware was open source, then we could at least fix things we didn't like. Ok now I am really dreaming

Clearly the lack of sleep and CPAP treatment is really getting to me, cognitive abilities are failing (I thought I was only getting really tired and irritable )

Will do - however with nothing but the titration C-Flex experience before to compare it to I'm not certain how valuable my input will be. : )

My husband is sensitive to noise so if he doesn't complain, then it will be deemed a quiet machine.

I wish the spammers that come here would direct their efforts to Respironics on resolving this. You shouldn't have to spend $600 on a product then put duct tape on it to use it. Bright lights on my stereo or computer in a well lit room is fine, but when I'm trying to sleep I don't want to be staring at headlights.
I'm with you on the annoying light issue. Hopefully it has a dimmer function. With all the electronics on board, you'd think it would at least have that.
I'm crossing all that's crossable in hopes that I have a good sleep tomorrow night on my new A-Flex.

I just got my apap/aflex yesterday. I had a basic M series Cpap from my DME (not even cflex) so I decided to upgrade myself. My Rx is for 11. I use Activa mask but am also trying out the Breeze.
In any event with regards to aerophagia, I still had it last night on A-flex. Woke up bloated at 5am. The apap had me up at 14.8 (vs the aforementioned 11) so that might be a contributor. Maybe my body will get used to the machine over a couple of days. I'll keep you posted.
Noise-wise, the machine was very quiet.

I'm a newbie and don't even have my A-flex machine yet (Monday hopefully). However, during titration it took me so long to fall asleep and get used to the masks (I tried many) that I swallowed a lot of air. The tech told me that if I use the ramp feature, then I will be less likely to swallow air. He also said that it is when we're awake that we swallow most of the air versus when asleep.

This is good to hear - or not 'hear' as in this case : )

Yeah - I am only a couple of months in myself. I guess I understand his saying we swallow the air when we are awake, but I don't think it is the case for me. I fall asleep in about 20 minutes, wake up once during the night and sleeip for 7.5 to 8 hours. So I think it happens to me while sleeping.
I am switching back to my Activa mask tonight (wife can't take the Breeze blowing on her) so I'll report back tomorrow if I have any improvement.
I will say, though, I very much liked the A-flex. I woke up this am at 5 and was VERY rested.
A Flex

First time user with any CPAP machine and I went with the A Flex. I have changed the settings to C Flex and I am much more comfortable. The A Flex setting on inhalation was doing something with the pressure that in the last few moments of the inhalation the pressure changed like a step and inhalation was much harder. This meant each inhalation breath was cut off if I did not strain to inhale. Tried all three adjustment settings. The C Flex setting does not do this and is much more comfortable. I am otherwise very impressed with the machine, its humdifier and my Swift II mask.
YMMV

just spent first night with new aflex- definitely better than cflex-
not only does it help inhale but is much better than cflex with exhale
slept whole night straight through- I remember thinking as I was falling asleep that the machine wasnt working- it is like you cant tell- there isnt any "fight" with the pressure
my wife says it is quieter than old machine [tank auto with cflex]
blue lights are there- doesnt bother because of how it sits [2 inches off floor down beside bed where light isnt concern]
only problem- apparently you do need newest encore pro software- I have been downloading regularly - this morning get software error as I was downloading so am on quest for newest encore
all in all- like it much better!! packer
any help with newer encore please respond or PM

from my vantage point-- two nights with new aflex
its a good thing
my guess is many newbies would stay with this that give up after a week or two of fighting their mask and straight blower
I wish I had this when I started- it simply is better
now- I need version 1.8 1.7 wont do it with new machine

A-Flex is built on C-Flex---it's not a substitute for it!

Never thought about putting it on the floor, with a night light like that I could probably make it back to bed without stubbing my toe
