okay I have had the ringing for many years [being a oldfart I'm unable to remember how long?]
I blam it on the kids yelling and being a school bus driver....
IT'S a GREAT reason to Gannnooor the wifes talking......

I was lucky to have an old Dr. that recommended I get a radio or something that makes "WhiteNoise" and use it while trying to get to sleep..... Seems too work --- I alway have a radio going in the background to give the ears something to DUE instead of RINGING-----------?

Dreamstalker, I laid on TOP of the Marshall's at the Wichita stop on that tour. Yes, I was... uh... Practicing Better Living through Chemicals.

I can directly correlate my tinnitus to my rampant overindulgence of rock music as a young adult.

I have ringing. It rings all the time. I notice it more when it's quiet, like at night. Haven't found a BP correlation, but now I might think about paying attention to that.

do you experience vertigo also?

There are numerous causes of tinnitus. Let your doc know and let him/her get a good history on the problem and any associated symptoms-like vertigo as already mentioned and any hearing loss.. .the list goes on.

Vanilla Fudge, 1967; Iron Butterfly, 1968; Led Zeppelin, 1968 (first row festival seating); Jimi Hendrix, 1968 (second row center stage); Rolling Stones (1971, first row center stage in a 6000-seat arena). Canned Heat and Grateful Dead were in there somewhere, but they weren't so loud.

Have you heard of the six degrees of separation? I attribute mine precisely to a .44 magnum revolver and a box of 20 rounds of factory ammunition fired without hearing protection. The Ted Nugent connection is that Ted is a big shooting fan. Hopefully he has protected his hearing from his guns and his music.

I wear hearing aids (sometimes) and they help to raise the ambient noise to help cover the tinitus when things are quiet.

I posted previously that many people have it and do not notice it until they focus on it.

It is amusing that each time I visit this forum and see the subject line, I become aware that MY EARS ARE RINGING, but I was not noticing it until I read the heading.

Tom - You have obviously never been to a Ted Nugent concert or your ears would ring whether or not you think about it.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in the early 80's. I've never heard anything so loud.

But I also made alot of the shows you guys have mentioned. Saw ZZ Top when they were a warm up band (for Humble Pie).

It didn't take me 20 rounds through a 4 in. barreled .44 mag to leave my ears ringing (about 12 years ago).....about TWO did it. I got in a hurry to take a shot at a coyote and forgot to put my "muffs" on. OUCH!
A goodly number of years of working in mainframe computer rooms with big "chain" printers running (usually with the covers open), didn't help either.

I always have to laugh when I watch a movie where there's been a gunfight indoors......and then they have a conversation afterwards. There ain't no way they'd be able to hear each other talking without yelling.
