Quality controle.... Sad SAD SAD!

This thing is a medical device and it's doing all this stuff??? no wonder my stats don't make sense in the morning some times... I wake up and first thing I look at is the morning stats and the averages don't' always work...
I wanted to get the software because I thought it would be better... Are you all saying that the REMStar Pro regularly skips recording data? or that the data that it records gets beamed up to the "Twilight Zone" never to be seen...?
You'd think this sort of behavior/funtionality would be looked in to more closely since this is a "Medical Device"
It's a medical device and they can't even make sure it records data acuretly?
Sounds like the only people having to "Jump threw hoops" because of the Medical nature of this machine is "US"
If this sums up their quality control it makes me wonder about their products and why they're all the sudden in a hurry to pull software off the shelves... you'd think they could just tell the doctors that it is an "Unfortunate bug" in the system and not to worry about it and don't mention it to your patents..
but if we have the software and can see the results our selves we're less likely to play ball and want results... after all it's just our treatment and wellbeing on the line why would we be concerned...
Sigh

I have the M series auto bipap and it does not miss data the way the M series auto did for me. Must be different in some important way. I think blarg told me it was firmware.

Well, the way I understand it, the Respironics all store their data on the data card whilst the Resmeds all store their data in the machine itself. So, maybe its a software problem more than a machine problem??? Just guessing. I'm outta my league here.
Auto not efected??

The (supposed) "fix" for the dropped nights was to download the data from the card, either daily or not let it go longer than 6 nights without a download and THEN to erase the card after downloading (whether it be daily or after 6 nights).
The "story" from Respironics was (supposedly) that version 1.8 was going to fix that, along with being compatible with MS Vista O/S.

I was under the impression that the M Series Autos had that problem, too.
Catnapper has the M Series Auto
BiPAP.

Does any one know how long this issue has been ocuring?
is this a Vertion 1.6 issue?
It sounds like it's still a problem in Vertion 1.8
is it on the same day for most of us? Is this random?
I think what the heck we should pool our recorces and compair our "Notes" if you would...
Then collectively we could go to Repsironics or see if CPAP.COM would be up to forwarding our problems strait to Respironics on our behalf..
If there are issues like this in their program they need to fix it.
How complicated is it to "Hold" information after it's been recorded with out deleting it... Is it even being recorded at all? what's the problem?
I hope we can find out.
Thanks

My father and I will be sitting down with Respironics next week at Medtrade to discuss the Encore Pro issue. I have a great deal of respect for Respironics and believe a reasonable solution can and will be reached.
I will be posting to CPAPtalk shortly after the meeting to let everyone know where things stand.

Any good news yet?

Yep, I knew that too, Den. I actually googled it before I wrote my post. Johnny's meeting with Respironics could be any day of the conference, though I suppose it's most likely gonna be a drawn out negotiation.
Just being an impatient kid, I guess . . .

Reading back on page 1 of this topic, it's sounds to me that what Johnny was going to talk to Respironics about was not the missing data problem, but if Encore Pro could be sold to the general public.
Am I reading this right?

Yeah, we're all wondering. I mainly posted the links in case anybody else wanted to look at it.
I wish that I/we could get into a similar meeting with the heads of some of these companies.
Some of the questions I'd like to ask these companies that make these products are:
Do you REALLY care about people being compliant with and having successful therapy?
If you DO, what's your problem with patients monitoring their own therapy?
If you're putting SOME of the nightly details in the LCD screens, what's the problem with having access to more specific details?
If our doctors aren't interested in or don't believe the reports coming out of these machines.....what's the problem with US having the information.
Wouldn't having US be more knowledgeable about and improving our own therapy be better than having a doctor charge us a ridiculous amount just to ask "How are you feeling?"....."Come back in 6 months." ?
If the data coming from these machines is fairly reliable, when are you going to educate the doctors, RTs and DMEs about it?
If there's a "problem" with us using this software because we can change our pressure settings with it, when are you going to come out with a version that is user-friendly and doesn't have that feature so it could be used by the actual patient if they so choose.
Diabetics can monitor and adjust their therapy.....what's the problem with monitoring our therapy with these "air" machines?
Anybody taking ANY type of drugs can choose to take or not take them.....and in effect adjust their therapy.
What's the problem???....it's ONLY AIR!!!

Yup! Apparently that's the issue.
