hello again everyone

i'm looking at my new-to-me interface, and i've just realized, reading through the posts about decapitating and stabilizing, mine looks slightly different than the ones in the pics...it's essentially the same, except the staps and the part that rests against the head are a deep blue and the plastic box-like thing on the head is clear, not grey...there is also an extra plastic "bar" that runs from one side to the other across the grey plastic 'things' and the part in the front that is blue in the pics is clear on mine...i don't imagine it makes any difference, i'm just wondering if this is a newer (hopefully improved) model, or is the one you guys have the newer, improved model? and on yours, is the forehead part rubber, or plastic?

The picture I posted is the Aura, the older version. The Twilight NP is the newer one.

I used a coping saw to cut through the plastic. It has a small blade which you can adjust so that you can saw away from the mask tube as you cut away the parts of the mask that you don't want.

Good luck. I bet you like it. The pillows are very soft.

Sharon, I just received my new Aura on Thursday. It's just like you described, blue, with the clear head thingie. Other than being too large for my head (I had to cut the velcro in the back and shorten it) I'm very happy with it so far. I haven't altered it yet, but if it bugs me down the road, I will come back for instructions.

The headgear of the Aura was too big for me (and most women). Also the forehead blue rubber bumpy piece wasn't comfort at all. Plus, many people thought it was pulling and breaking their hair.

I'll never regret getting rid of that headgear (thanks to our brave Rested Gal for labratting). Two stretchy straps are alot lighter and more comfortable that a too big, heavy headpiece that still has to be stabilized with a stretchy strap.

Before I de-capitated my Aura (yes, my husband did it for me yesterday!), I would put a piece of flannel material inside the rubber cap, and that made it more comfortable against the top of my head. And, as Linda stated, I still tied it under my nose. I also found the headpiece too big, and used duct tape to hold it together since my adjustment went beyond the velcro. I wore my hair in a low ponytail and threaded it through the headgear, like you would with a baseball cap. That kept the headgear from coming off. Don't let all this scare you - these are simple things, and it's a really comfortable mask!

BTW, Linda, I had a hard time last night with my two stabilizing straps trying to "pop" off my head. Maybe they're too skinny (1.5 inch)? Maybe I need a really high ponytail? Any suggestions are welcome! Sorry to kidnap your thread, Sharon!

I use two legs from essently lycra tights. I tie the top one so it's resting on the wide part where the grey plastic adjustable bits used to go, and then I hook it under my ocipital bone (that hump in the back of your head).

The bottom one stays put on its own. Tie them with a starter knot, which is just like how you start tying your shoes, just go over under once, and then over under again.
