Re: what are the differences between the aircurve 10 /11 v-auto
First let me preface this with the fact that I have not had a chance to try an AirCurve 11 VAuto yet.
Now I have had a chance to try the AirSense 11 AutoSet which I got about a year ago just to try and I had some FSA money I had to spend or lose it.
Remember the AirCurve 11 models are actually fairly "new" to the released market. It hasn't been around near as long as the AirSense 11 AutoSet models so there's not going to be a lot of members who have had a chance to use both the AirCurve 10 VAuto and the AirCurve 11 VAuto. The AirCurve 11 models were released about 2 years ago.
If/when I get around to it and find the extra money I will pick one up to try. It won't be anytime soon though. What with my own health issues and my hubby's heart attack last year I won't be having any extra money for a while. The bills are still rolling in and adding up.
I guess I need to get the AirSense 11 AutoSet out of the closet and compare the size with my AirCurve 10 VAuto because all AirSense/AirCurve 11 models use the same housing. ResMed says the 11 is smaller and lighter. I can tell you this though....it may be smaller but it's not all that much smaller.
It's not like it is half the size or something like that. I will unpack the AutoSet later and check for sure.
Some things did change but to my mind they were cosmetic changes for the most part. The auto adjusting algorithm did NOT change though. It did lose a clock that could be manually set or changed though. Instead they gave you a time zone setting that can't be changed if you have past data stored on the machine. Big whoopie....but I kinda like the clock
There are work arounds though and not the end of the world to have that minor limitation.
The machine screen is now a "touch screen" instead of knobs and probably not a big deal until the screen decides it doesn't want to be a "touch" screen anymore and I have no doubt that at some point in the future that will probably happen. It's just the nature of electronics.
Then there's the fact that none of the accessories are interchangeable except maybe the filters and non heated hose (along with masks). The heated hose is NOT interchangeable between the "10" models or the "11" models.....neither is the humidifier water chamber.
Again not the end of the world but rather annoying if someone has a lot of the older model supplies that can't be used.
ResMed wants you to go buy new stuff though so remember that.
I wouldn't be afraid to get, and use, the AirCurve 11 VAuto. In the past newly released models seem to meet resistance but eventually become accepted (like what choice do we really have) once there are no others being made. Like I have been spoiled by the clock I can change ....even though I rarely ever change it....and I will whine and bitch about it but in the end I have to shrug my shoulders and just be happy with it.
Let me go dig out the AirSense 11 AutoSet and see if it really is all that much smaller. It's been nearly a year since I last used it and I have slept many times since then so I don't remember sizing.
I am back up machine poor at this point....what with the AirCurve 10 that I currently use and a back up of that model and then the AirSense 11 AutoSet....I don't really need or want any more machines at this point in my life.

Okay....the AirSene 11 is a bit smaller in terms of vertical height by about 2 inches. So smaller that way but that's all.
Overall length X width is essentially unchanged.
I couldn't find exact specs for water chamber for the "11" model but found where it said "about 380 ml which is exactly what the "10" chamber supposedly holds. It may not be exactly the same capacity but it is close.
Plug in for the hose is fixed and can't rotate on the 11 models. I like the "10" model hose plug in but I could get used to fixed plug in because my very first cpap machines only offered fixed hose plug in anyway.

My aircurve 10 died so I'm on my backup. Lsat only has the 11 right now. So I guess I don't have much choice unless I want to try something off of fb marketplace and I'm always wary of that. I trust Lsat. That is a bummer about the humidity chambers, I don't use a heated hose in Az. in fact I've still got a brand new one somewhere. I just need to have something in case my back up dies.
