Any suggestions for good mouth tape welcome!
We like for people to stick to one thread so their history is readily available. However, this deserves it's own thread so it will be easily seen by the tapers.

New information.

I started recording myself with an infrared camera recently, including timestamps on the video. I've been trying to correlate CSA events from the charts with the video that I record overnight. It's hard for me to do proper interpretation but I did notice something. I realized that I have a lot of hypnic jerks (involuntary muscle contractions or twitches) of my legs, arms and head. Those result in arousals. After each such, I usually turn slightly but I also take a deep breath right after that movement, followed by a long pause immediately after which is (falsely I believe) marked as CSA! Almost all of those that I tracked on the last night's video were such. My O2Ring does catch some of them, but not all.

I'll try a few simple things:
* Start taking again magnesium before going to bed
* Move my gym workouts in the mornings/noon
* Potentially add L-Theanine before bed too

Additionally. I started double-taping my mouth to ensure good seal and I finally managed to stop the leaks. They seem to happen when I sleep on my back and my jaw must be opening. Now I look like a chipmunk with nuts in my cheeks. As a result my SpO2 is much more stable.

Code: Select all

                          Min Med 95% 99.5%
No tape, no CPAP 81.00 94.00 96.00 97.00
No tape, with CPAP: 88.00 95.00 97.00 98.00
Double tape, with CPAP: 93.00 97.00 97.00 98.00
Porous tape, with CPAP: 91.00 96.00 97.00 98.00
Going back to double tape tonight. I'll try a chin-strap in addition.

As an aside: sadly both the ResMed and the O2Ring cannot keep proper track of time through the night. I could not find a way to set the time of my ResMed. I can only compensate in OSCAR (not in SleepHQ) but this is not enough because as the night goes on the time skew changes. For the O2Ring I can set the time and do so before going to bed but then it seems to lag by 5-6 seconds in the morning.
