Someone should write a good overview of humidification and make it a sticky (wink-wink, not it!)

Don't look at me....I got that stuff in places but not many stickies. I have given that same speech so many times in the past I have lost count.

This one thread with posts number 2 and 3 covers most humidification issues.

I have barely had the energy to do regular moderator stuff the past couple of years. My mom died, my health is doing what all people who get older will do and I just hate composing anything. Past couple of years have been rough. I feel like total dog poop most days and none of it is related to cpap or apnea.....just old age and stress.

besides, most people, I think, don't read the stickies. just had a fellow in giving all his details but no charts. even when pugsy posted the link, all the guy did was laugh it off. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for all the input, my original question and poll perhaps was misleading. Perhaps, I was looking in the wrong place, humidifier/CPAP…. I may be suffering from allergies which started almost immediately after starting to use CPAP (thought it wouldn’t hurt to take a look at it). The link to everything humidity and hose temp was interesting… I will tinker some more but my issue might not even be CPAP related just the timing may be a coincidence. So perhaps, this forum isn’t going to provide the answers in my case. My heart goes out to the user who mentioned the loss of a family member and failing health… we share that grief and struggle. Thanks to all those who’s kind remarks contributed to this discussion:)

Hearing this makes me very sad, Pugsy! My parents are both long gone, but they were far away and I didn't see them give up (dementia, for my father, and lost desire to live, for my mother), so I wasn't affected as you must have been. I wish you all the best, maybe mostly - the energy to go on. We all know how this movie ends, but maybe let's go out fighting as hard as we can - after all, we have others' lives to affect!

Apparently Candida and Mold in the Sinuses feed on humidity. So this might be news to a few who suspect CPAP humidification is a potential cause of health issues or at least is feeding it… in my case I used antibiotics to fight an ear infection not long before starting to use CPAP… and be of the risks of using antibiotics is a Candida infection.

This information wasn’t understood at the time the poll was created and wouldn’t be apparent to long time users who haven’t had issues which I suspect is the majority after finding the just right goldilocks zone.

My gawd this fear mongering post is just so wrong.

Moist, nasal passages is essential. And you're running around telling people that humidly provided by the humidifier is a contributing factor candida overgrowth.

Just log off.
