My wife and I both use AS11s with Airfit P30i headgear at home. Fortunately, our pressure requirements are low and the headgear is comfortable, making our use of CPAP both easy and effective. Living in Florida, we use the humidifiers only if it's cold and dry, or if we have issues with nasal congestion.
We both have Airminis with P10 headgear. The P10 works well for normal respiration, but mine struggles with higher flow rates—like when I yawn. It feels like the machine struggles to keep up. It doesn't interfere with normal sleep, though, so I'm okay with it.
The HumidX cartridges seem ineffective. We rarely need them, but in dry climates, extra humidity would be helpful. Has anyone had success with alternate HMEs on an AirMini? If so, what headgear setup works best?
I found a knock-off HME on Amazon that I haven't tried yet. It's a standard hose size so it requires an adapter, which I have. Ideally, I would prefer to use our P30i headgear but I don't know if that would work with the Airmini. I would attach the HME at the top of the headgear, rather than at the machine. Even that might not be close enough to be effective.
Given my issues with airflow on deeper breaths, the AirFit frame may not withstand negative pressure. Has anyone tested a similar setup? Your experiences would be really helpful! If the P10 is the best option, I'll just buy a new one. Mine squeaks due to air leaks. I've had the same one for several years.
Thanks for your time and attention.
