The new F & P Solo nasal pillow mask & F & P Nova Micro mask

Post by Pugsy » Thu Nov 14, 2024 12:16 pm

So....I got this new mask/ the Nasal pillow Solo to try yesterday.

Any questions about it????

Yes....the under the nose cushion model of the Solo will fit on the frame/hose of the nasal pillow model.
The headgear is interchangeable. If you have one model and want to try the other model the cushion/pillow will fit.

Venting is NOT diffused. It annoyed my husband enough for him to mention it this morning.
There is some noise on exhale. Coming from the Eclipse which is totally silent....I found this highly annoying.
My nose was a bit "tender" this morning where the pillows rested.
It might be a little more stable (in terms of mask movement) than the Solo under the nose cushion version....no different than the P10 vs N30 masks when it comes to stability.

It is like any other mask out there....pros and cons to it. For myself...more cons than pros but then I have been spoiled.

I'm looking to replace my resmed F20 as the face mask is worn out, and i'm supposed to be breathing through my nose anyways. I have used the P10 before and found that my nose hurt in the morning, although ill pass that off to "getting used to it". did you find the irrtation the same as the resmeds?

Thank you for the review.I was thinking about trying it. I have been checking here. Hoping that someone would review this mask. No one better than you in my opinion. I think I’ll stick my P10. 🤔

No. I have never, ever had any sort of discomfort when I used any other nasal pillow mask (no matter the brand).
This "tenderness" with this mask is something I have never had with any other mask.
BTW the "tenderness" went away within a couple of hours. No abrasions at all. Felt more like the end of my nose met with someone's closed fist.

If the P10 is hurting someone....then it is either the wrong size nasal pillow or the user has the headgear too tight.

You know it's funny but I was really surprised by this mask.
I actually used the Solo under the nose cushion model for not quite a month. I rather liked it.
Not so impressed with the pillow version...not impressed with it....I might give it 2 or 3 more nights and that's it.

Hubby did request that I do further experiments next week when he has gone back to work (he's home right now) because apparently the venting was pretty annoying to him. He mentioned it this morning and he hardly ever complains.
Vented air was significantly annoying for him. So that in itself is significant.

Is the pillow on the solo the same as the micro? The pillows look the same based on photos. Could be some minor differences though.

I don't know. I have never seen the Nova Micro in person so I can't compare.

The actual nasal pillow tips themselves though.....look the same..... but that's where it ends. The way the pillow sits is different. The headgear is different. The frame/hose thingy is different as well.

Someone else needs to be a guinea pig for the Nova Micro. I am not going to be trying it unless it gets donated.
I paid out of pocket for the Solo under the nose cushion and the Solo nasal pillow model.....I am done with paying for anything new for a while.

Never mind....I ordered the Nova Micro.
That's probably the last of my FSA funds though....so no more for me for now.

I won't get it until the middle of next week most likely.....will report on it after I try it.
Probably this thread since they are so similar.
Maybe I will get pictures of both side by side so people can compare the pillows better.

Thanks for the response. I might of not used it correctly, but i found the M-L size pillows were the only ones that fit. Mabye ill get it again, and try it, or grab this one if the price is right.

Hey guys/gals. Remember that ALL masks have haters and lovers and my personal preferences are just that....my own personal preferences and I do NOT expect everyone out there to have the same preferences that I have.
Just because I don't like something doesn't mean the next person won't like it either and conversely just because I like something doesn't mean that the next person will like it.

So far nothing comes even close to knocking the Eclipse off the top spot.

I want silent venting.
I want venting that is barely felt one inch from the vent holes.
I want light weight.
I want NO HEADGEAR at all.
I don't want Darth Vadar in bed with me....so no breathing noise.

The Eclipse meets all my needs. So far nothing else does but then I am rather particular.

Hi Pugsy,

Thanks for that review. I would like to be able to read or watch a video with the mask on and my full face mask (though I like it otherwise) interferes with my vision and glasses are out of the question with it on. The airfit p30i hurts and the tech at my local provider tells me that my pressure is too high for a pillow mask but I don't trust anything they say. The RT couldn't even fit my mask properly.

I have been waiting for the Solo nasal mask to be available in Canada. I am going to search for your review of it.

I read that the pillows are interchangeable with the nasal mask so it wouldn't be hard to switch back and forth?

CPAP.com doesn't ship here and shipping costs from the US is very high at other places I have found so I will have to wait until they are in stock in at my online store in Canada.

Super easy to switch out under the nose cushion Solo's for the nasal pillow version. No different than changing sizes of either. They snap right in.

As far as high pressures and nasal pillow masks......I know people using bilevel machines with starting minimum pressures over 20 and using nasal pillow masks just fine. Yeah, it can be a challenge but I bet using a full face mask with pressures over 20 can be quite a challenge as well.

Thank you. Truthfully when they had my pressure between 18 and 20, even the full face mask and everything else was a challenge. They were chasing CAs....which they were likely partially causing. I am now on airplane mode and told them that they will not be touching my pressure, which I set at 14-16.

I hope the Solo will be available here soon so I can try it.
