bleep eclipse availability

Post by lynninnj » Tue Sep 03, 2024 8:04 am

good day all.

This time last year, I was trying to get a bleep eclipse. My DME did not have them in stock. They were just being put back into production full speed.

Fast forward and my DME company says they have them. so I ordered them, and then got an email saying that they weren’t in stock. one of 3 items I ordered is out of stock. It’s pretty unlikely it’s the filters out of stock and more likely the mask starter kit or what is listed as ECLIPSE HALO NASAL PILLOW CUSHIONS.

I am going to call later but wondering if that capitalized verbiage looks correct (Pugsy would know). It should be packages of the halos.

I see the halos on sale at several cpap suppliers websites so I know they’re out there. I also plan to call my insurance company to ask if i can switch DMEs if they can’t make these available. Maybe if they are the ones calling the DME they are more likely to get it in gear?

I don’t want them waiting at the clock. I have a new visit to the pulmonologist in October and a new prescription will be due at that time.

any input is appreciated. Thank you.

Well.......the Eclipse is neither a nasal pillow mask nor a nasal cushion mask IMHO....but what term do we use with it??? Let's face it....it's not a traditional cpap mask at least in terms of what we are used to hearing about.
Now there is a little "cushion" where the magnets of the Halo part attach to the frame/short hose but it doesn't touch the skin like a traditional cushion mask touches the skin of the nose.

You shouldn't have to ask permission to switch DME's. Just find one that has what you want and ask if they take your insurance.

Check out Aeroflow. They take most insurance and have everything in stock. You will have to get a PDF copy of your prescription for them.

I was going to call aeroflow next. I’m not putting up with their shit. I scanned my script last October. My hope was my current dme would get 3m supply covered even tho it straddles the “year” that script covers.

Waiting on my dme to call ne back with timeline so I can call my care coordinator next for an end around.

of course what I should and shouldn’t have to do is moot unless I am prepared to pay out of pocket (which I don’t want to do right now).

Pugsy- didn’t you post once the billing code? I thought the billing code for the halos was same as code for cushions? That is what I was wondering about.

dude is supposed to call me back to tell me if they’re out of starter kit or halos.

The "official" HCPCS billing code for the Halos is the same as the code for the replacement nasal cushion (either under the nose cushion or over the nose cushion) but the billing code for replacement nasal pillows will work as well. One box of Halos is equal to 2 weeks worth of use and most insurance allows 2 replacements per month. So 2 boxes of Halos is equal to one month of use.

Remember private insurance (and/or Medicare) don't really care about brand or model anyway. All they care about is the HCPCS billing codes.

Also remember that masks are pretty much all "parted out" when it comes to HCPCS billing codes even if everything comes in one package.
Headgear is billed out separately if there is headgear involved.
Frame is billed out separately
cushion/pillow is billed out separately as well.

Their email likely was referring to official billing code when it listed parts. They were going to send mask starter kit and 6 boxes of halos but interesting point about them breaking it apart to bill it. Good reminder.

I still have a few calls to make because I’m getting the runaround. If I don’t get satisfaction, I know what I need to do in order to change my DME provider.

thanks!

So, I got my bleep. Wore it several nights then noticed my nose was getting irritated and a bit of skin came off. Nothing terrible but pushed me to switch back to N30 a day or so. Then I went back to bleep and repeat the nose irritation.

Pugsy or anyone else who uses the bleep, do you use some type of moisturizer or anything on your nose after you get the adhesive off?

I don't think I am allergic or overly sensitive. Is it that the skin is still delicate and needs to callous/toughen up? Does it need a moisturizer? Am I pulling them off in a way that is not good for my skin?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

Not really. Though lately I have been trying to use some anti wrinkle cream but for the obvious reason of reducing wrinkles and nothing to do with any skin around the nose issue.

I also don't do anything special when I remove the Halos...I just yank them off.
But then I don't have really delicate skin.

thanka for taking the time

I might’ve sorta yanked them off too.

The only way to build up callous is to keep doing it so Im not “thin skinned”

:D

Let's be clear here.....I do NOT have callouses on my skin at the nose/nostril area at all.
I actually have rather thin skin on my nose. Remember I am an old woman with wrinkly saggy skin...borders on what I call "paper skin".

I just yank them off but I suppose one could make removal easier if someone just washed their face with a nice moisturizing soap.

The adhesive is a 3M product used also for colostomy bag adhesion. Sensitivity issues only in about 5% of the users.

Just go slow and it'll come off fine. If you mess up you'll be back an old-school mask for a few days while your nose heals.

I too go slow when I use the Bleep. The direction is from top to bottom. I actually think a bit of adhesive residue remains on my face....
