I did not notice that at all, Bran. Both are comfortable masks, not loud, they leak about the same, at least for me, and I don't notice the venting at all. On the P10 the venting is aimed down, whereas on the F&P it vents toward the front, if that makes sense. But not into the eyes.
Both masks are great. I tried the F&P thinking it might leak less, but I really noticed no difference between them so stuck with the P10 as the F&P pillows are about $7 more each. If you have a P10, I did not find the F&P an upgrade. If you don't have a nasal pillow mask, both are contenders, IMO.
I'm a side sleeper, so I have no ideas about what types of mask are best for a stomach sleeper.

Re: F&P Nova Micro Nasal Pillow Mask
There is no pillow mask (or any other mask for that matter) that has the vent holes pointing anywhere near upwards towards the eyes. They simply don't vent to the eyes BUT if that vented air hits an arm or the bed covers or something then it could potentially bounce towards the eyes. Look at where the vent holes are placed....they are away from the face and in most instances point downwards. Some venting systems are diffused and the air vented is barely felt even at one inch from the vent holes but some venting systems aren't diffused (or minimally diffused) and the force of the vented air is quite forceful and can easily bounce off an arm or bed covers and end up hitting the eye area. It's not the mask's fault if someone puts an arm up by those vent holes or lets the bed covers get in the way.
I have tried the Nova Micro and I would classify its venting system as minimally diffused. It isn't as diffused as the P10 but more diffused than say the Swift FX or other older generation nasal pillow mask.
At 4 to 6 inches away from the Nova Micro vent holes I really can't feel the vented air at all. With the P10 I can't feel the venting even at 1 inch from the vent holes.
So if someone is concerned about the vented air bouncing back and hitting the eye area then the P10 is going to have a slim chance of bouncing anywhere....the Nova Micro has a little more chance of bouncing back but it is a minimal (but more than slim chance)....then something like the Swift FX has a substantial chance of bounce back.
As far as leaks go with any nasal mask....it's either mask movement leak or mouth opening leak. And yes, some nasal pillow masks are more stable than others so less prone to mask movement but they usually don't have diffused venting.
The Swift FX is more stable than the P10 but the venting can feel like a hurricane.
So which a person prefers is going to depend on that person's personal preferences....do they want stability like the Swift FX or do they prefer minimal headgear and the no annoying venting.
There are always going to be trade offs and compromises with any mask we use.

Re: F&P Nova Micro Nasal Pillow Mask
I have now been using the F&P Nova Micro mask for about two weeks. In the past, I used a Brevida mask. At this time, I think I will stick with the Micro Nova mask although it is really pretty much of a toss-up for me.
When I first used the NM mask, I thought that the medium cushion had fewer leaks and the large cushion required a tighter strap. I've changed my mind on that and am now using the Large cushion with a fairly loose headgear strap.
I find OSCAR reports very very few leaks with the NM mask, where I had almost constant small leaks with the Brevida. I don't yet know whether there is any real difference in AHI but I do find I can use a higher pressure with the NM than with the Brevida (because of leaks). Flow limitations may be slightly better with the NM but I don't have enough data to confirm that.
The NM headgear is a little easier to put on, compared to the Brevida, but it is not a significant difference.
The back strap slides up to the top of my head with both Brevida and NM masks, more with the Brevida, and I have to adjust that during the night. The top strap on the NM rides pretty high above my ear and the side straps almost overlaps the edge of my eyes. It's too bad headgears are not compatible -- I'd like to try the Evora headgear which fit well. (I'll see if I can find it and see if it can be adapted.)
