What the hell is this?

Resmed Airsense 10 Auto

This is the second time I've found these fibers in my tank. The filter is clean and new. Tank is washed regularly. ONLY Distilled water used.

Ive been using this machine for at least 2 or 3 years without issue. I have no idea what this stuff is. It doesn't look like mold or move like mold.

IIRC when I tore down my second hand one down to the last screw to clean it, there was a foam ring. Could the foam be disintegrating?

Should I tare this machine down or does anyone have simpler ideas?

Yikes. I don't know what that stuff is, but I recommend that you save it, along with your photos, and take the machine, gunk, and photos to your DME or sleep clinic. I'd want a new replacement machine if I were you.

Have you been using SoClean (or other Ozone based) cleaner?

Ozone is a nasty product and is incompatible with a lot of materials. Others have had the foam disk break down because of SoClean use.

Do you just top up the water every night? Or do you rinse before refilling?

Never. Considered one early on but saw how ozone is a bad idea for the equipment.

Usually rinse but in over 3 years I've never had this happeb, rinse or no rinse.

The only thing it very vaguely if I imagined hard enough looks remotely familiar to it's Microfiber (I use a Microfiber Blanket but not one with long fibers though these could be bundled) but I don't know how they'd be getting past the filter. The filter is properly seated, no leaks around it and it's not the meshy kind of filter (I'd consider them high flow vs the regular dense filters). IOW I use the denser ones, not the spunky fiber type.
