I wish you the best of luck having more and more nights/days where it is better.
We had an appointment with the sleep medicine Dr Thursday and they adjusted the settings and recommended we try him on a nasal mask with a chin strap. (won't get that till next week though.) I actually recommended he practice holding his tongue to the roof of his mouth and breath through his nose and the morning after I had him try that he said he liked it, he only wore the mask 3 1/2 hours that night be while he was wearing it, the seal was good.

Do charts look different when the person has covid? I tested positive yesterday and it's a pretty rough case. The thing is I feel like I actually slept well for once last night but my chart looks like crap.

My data often looks worse when I am sick. Doesn't seem to matter if it's a head cold, the flu, or covid. In fact, sometimes my data looks really bad a night or two before I start feeling sick. And it goes back to normal as I start to get over whatever it is that I've caught.
Hope you get well soon from the covid. I came down with it while we were on vacation last month. (Tested positive on July 21.) I didn't feel any where near as bad as when I caught it back at Thanksgiving 2021, just before I was scheduled to get my 3rd covid vaccination. But all the same, my energy levels are taking much longer to return to normal this time around.

Thanks! I'm hoping that maybe the need to sleep more from covid is what I need to finally get used to sleeping with the cpap.

Same with me.

Now I suddenly have these CAs popping up that I don't normally get. Could that be Covid related too?

Everyone of those flagged CAs/centrals is post arousal. Not fully asleep. As to why? Dunno for sure but generally speaking we don't sleep that great when we are ill for any reason.....and you were having sleep quality issues before you got Covid so we don't know for sure. Maybe just makes a bad situation worse.

Oddly enough, I feel like I've been sleeping better WITH Covid.

I'm starting to feel like I just cannot adapt to this therapy. No matter what I try, I cannot get a good night of sleep. I feel so much worse than before therapy and it's turning me into an emotional wreck. I definitely have mental issues that need to be addressed but CPAP is making it so much harder.
I have an appointment with my sleep doctor next Friday and am probably going to ask about alternative options.

Know what is wild?
I had one of my very first nights of 0 AHI in March. Later that day, I tested positive for covid. (I am sure I had it the night before). I had the worst headache of my life and decided to test. It was the kind of headache I get with bad AHI numbers but ten times worse. Thankfully I did not have much congestion with it. But when one is congested, the heat and humidity comfort settings are a godsend and I was glad I had a pap at that time.
I wish you a mild case and speedy recovery. I am sorry you are so frustrated by all of this and are having such a hard time.
I don't know the right combo for you but I hope you find it. Please pop back in here because the folks here, often, know far better than the sleep docs (as you experienced at kaiser.) Lots of first hand experience.
Take care and get well soon.

Thank you. I don't want to give up but at the same time, what am I doing if I'm worse off than before, you know?

There’s a line there where you gain one thing and lose another. Not sure what your O2 levels dropped to during your sleep test but I know it’s not healthy for me to go back.
I’m just saying if you go away for a bit, be sure to come back. Also, you should be aware they track compliance based on hours you use the machine daily. Maybe put it on during the day while you’re awake?
I thought you had a pretty goid few days numbers wise when you switched masks. To be honest I lost track of your progress a bit there but saw you raise pressure and then you got chipmunk cheeks.
Either way I hope you’re recovering from covid quickly.

I did end up going back to the full face mask which I have actually gotten pretty used to. I just need to figure out why I'm so tired during the day. I think I'm at the tail end of this bout with covid.

Im no expert but the only real number that i cling to is time in apnea.
the fact that you felt like you slept well is great yardstick to measure with.
When you get several days like that under your belt, even with a few crap days mixed in, you will probably start to see a difference. It took me a few weeks to figure out numbers and settings andwhen i finally felt like i got it, a few weeks after that and things felt more rested during day.
