God knows I sure do sleep better, now that I know Liam is back!!

Hmm. Maybe Liam is good medicine for cpap compliance!
And we don't even need a script for him!!....do we?

Linda, ....who, like everyone else, is SOOO glad Liam's back.

Liam:
You want to hear what my GP or PCP or LSD or whatever else he used, he told me "we were devoted about one lesson in med school about sleep "problems" and he laffed". So I knew this set me apart from HIM on sleep apnea. He did read my sleep study and say "HMMMMM" a few times, but then of course, I was sitting there.

I think as more and more come forward w/sleep OSA/OSH problems, perhaps the docs can jump onboard and maybe learn something. At least my dr. didn't toss my cookies out, study and all.

I'm not sure I agree with him on auto...but then once again, whatcha got to lose by trying one if you can?

Did you have a sleep study? I'm not sure by what you mentioned? If you didn't can u go back to the dr. who gave you the scrip and re-do the scrip for a autopap. Do you have a copy, get one?

Just glad you're back ......keep us informed, ok?

Current status with me, just as an update: I had my appointment with the doctor at the sleep lab. While there, I asked him about Auto Titrating CPAPs. His answer, while not the popular one, was at least a little bit more understandable than some I've heard...

He feels that Auto machines aren't sufficient because they can only detect certain types of issues. He feels a full sleep study is a better option because with the O2 sensor and the chest straps and the EEG and EKG and the rest, they can detect a lot more of what is going on than just apneic events, and can titrate a pressure which seems to have the most beneficial effect on EVERYTHING, not just breathing stoppages.

Now, how much of this makes sense I don't know. But certainly I have to agree that they can measure more with an EEG and an EKG and electrodes to detect restless leg syndrome and abdomen strips to detect chest effort while TRYING to breathe, etc.... than could possibly be measured simply by detecting variables in the flow rate and possibly the sound of a snore.

None of which helps me, if I can't get past having the machine on to the point that I can sleep, but I don't think an Auto would help that.

Liam, stripped of mask, stripped of sleep, stripped of hair, but thankfully not stripped of clothing!

Would if I could....but I'm down to one at the moment. The others have gone to visit family, so to speak.

It's good to see you back, Liam!

We could consider Liam to be our pet project. Our humanitarian project, getting him compliant. Figure, if we can get him operating successfully with his cpap, whatever kind, then we should be able help ANYBODY...!
Go Liam, go, go, go !!!!!

Funny dude!

No, not at all. He is famous, no doubt about it, and we all love his humor.
Sorry if you thought I meant this otherwise. Didn't mean to seem sarcastic. Really.

REALLY????

I don't understand what you have against Liam and why do you continually post these sarcastic "compliments" about him.

By the way, FYI... Janet and I are going on a much needed retreat this weekend, we'll be driving and sans computer for two full days. (I don't know how I'll manage!)

So for all of those who were worrying when I was gone for a while: I'll be back either on Sunday night (probably late) or else sometime on Monday.

Liam, on the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again... (Less hair than Willie Nelson, but just as fugly)

We can handle your absence, knowing you'll be back to haunt, er, I mean to joke with us by Monday.

Enjoy your weekend, and don't think of us. Have a great time!!

Liam, Sleeping with cpap is sort of like sleeping nude. The first few times you do it doesn't seem so comfortable. But once you get used to it its natural. How did I ever sleep with clothes on and How did I ever sleep without this cpap . Just don't try learning to sleep nude AND learn to sleep with cpap at the same time. You might overload.

Cheers,

Chris
