And no one talks about it? It would be a BIG help to those of us still attempting to get compensation to hear of other's success stories.

Whether or not there has been success depends on your definition of success.
Any outcome extending ones dependence on a mediocre company is not my idea of success.

Ok, in what way EXACTLY did I indicate any dependance on this 'mediocre company'?

My definition of success, in this case, is to receive the reimbursement that was promised.

I am most certainly not depending on said reimbursement, nor will I suffer if I don't get it. I'll be just fine, so don't you worry about me.

IMO, the intent of philips' exchange process was to trap patients
into years longer of dealing with their inferior machines.
The decent thing would have been to recall their damn junk, and giving out cash refunds!
The whole stinking nightmare is appalling!

How does returning a defective CPAP to the manufacturer during a recall, in exchange for cash trap anyone into using an inferior machine for years??

There needs to be the distinction here between the replacement devices and these fixed payments to incentivize folks to return their machines, and then this settlement fund that will compensate all those who just went out and replaced their equipment out of pocket. I did get two crappy refurb machines myself which are going back, so that I can be made eligible for participation in that pool which won't be carved up until August or later.

I returned two crappy machines and got two crappy replacements. I still have the crappy replacements. I also went out of pocket and purchased a ResMed machine.

I returned two machines. One was an old PR machine, my first cpap, not used any longer but on the recall list, my backup at the time. The other was a newer (less than two years old) PR Deamstation Bipap. Both machines were/are registered with Phillips and are in the recalled group. I personally didn't return these two machines at the same time, my DME took care of all this. When I turned in the newer machine (months after the recall was announced), I was given, what appeared to be, a brand new Dreamstation 2 bipap. New box, new smell, still had the stickers and protective film on it. After plugging it in and checking the hours, all zero. I still have this machine as a backup since I bought a ResMed AirCurve 10 bipap out of pocket rather than wait for a replacement.

The second replacement machine that I was given (replaced the old PR cpap) was clearly a rehabed cpap. It didn't come in a box, had no stickers on it (except for one, it said remanufactured or some such thing), and had hours on the timers. I gave this to my son as his backup machine.

I may have to return the two replacements as well, not sure, if I want to be reimbursed.

To my knowledge there was never a DreamStation 2 Bipap model, only the 'Auto CPAP Advanced' as it's called.
