System One 560P vs Dreamstation 1

Post by Rob K » Sun Jun 04, 2023 7:08 pm

Normally I'm good at making decisions for myself but I'm struggling with this one and decided to appeal to the masses. I have a Philips System One 560P that I use for camping and a backup machine. I've been partial toward it since it ran directly off of 12vdc without the need of propriety cables. It was part of the recall so I registered long ago. As you know, after a long time, they eventually offered a choice of replacement or a small bit of money. I was going to hold out for the replacement but found out they would not be sending another 560. At that point I decided to cut ties with Philips. I decided to keep the machine and remove the foam which is not a problem since I do electronic repair. After thinking on it some more and I decided to leave the 560 in storage and buy a new Breas Z2 Auto for camping which I used a couple times now and found that it is quite efficient on battery power, much better than my 560P. So now the 560 is just a back up for my Resmed home machine with humidifier.

I thought I was done with Philips for good but a repaired Dreamstation 1 showed up at my door that I did not request. They probably should have given people the choice of opting out on their website. I haven't opened the box yet and they started sending me emails about returning my 560P. Now I'm faced with this Philips crap again and have to decide which machine to keep. Honestly my Resmed is a much better machine and would prefer one of those as a back up.

Any pros or cons on System One 560P vs Dreamstation 1? Is one better than the other? Some research seems to say the Dreamstation runs on 12vdc but the dc cable is proprietary. I'm not finding info on which is more efficient running on battery.

Just figure out the manuals list both of the machines with the same dc voltage specs. Both are 12v 6.67amps so they seem to be the same as far as battery efficiency goes.

It sounds like the two machines are nearly the same, just a different look. Thinking I'm just going to send the Dreamstation back and keep the System One. That way I won't have to buy the Dreamstation proprietary cords, filters, etc.
