Hi,
I've got the Prisma 25S Auto Bipap, and everytime I use it, it turns off at night. I have smart start and smart stop turned off, so I feel like this shouldn't happen, even if my mask was leaking.
Does anyone have an idea what could be happening here?
Unfortunately the machine is not compatible with OSCAR

How old is the machine?
I see you registered in 2019, but that was not your machine then.

I got the machine in October or November last year. So it should be 7 or 8 months old.

the "problem" is that i don't see a lot of people logging in here that have that machine. in fact, this might be the first i've spotted it.

so either hold on and hope for some brilliant suggestion or send it out for repair.

Yes I think I can get it repaired or replaced for free. I thought I'd post first in case it is an easy fix I can do at home.

Could it be a power dip?

Have anything else plugged into the same outlet - like an alarm clock or radio that might show if the power was interrupted?
Tho any respectable bipap would resume as soon as power was restored.

Time to pick up a name brand?
Something that works with Oscar could benefit you.

Like another Resmed, of course.

I don't think it's a power dip as this only happens with this particular machine (the prisma). I have another bipap from resmed where this doesn't happen.
I don't have anything else plugged into the same outlet.
As mentioned I also have a resmed bipap, but I need to be using the prisma in order to keep getting supplies from my insurance (the prisma is the machine the insurance paid for, the remsed is self bought).

There's nothing you can do that might fix it. Return it. It's under warranty anyway....you shouldn't be having to "fix it".

Certainly. And contact your insurance to let them know you are having this problem. Also ask them if you can get a Resmed instead.

Maybe you should spend more time here learning how to convince your DME you won't accept anything but a Resmed.

btw - who is your DME?

Protect others from the bad ones.

ftr - some electrical devices may be more prone (sensitive) to a power dip than others.

You should still try to get this Prisma replaced but it is possible this thing is a tad more sensitive to an ever so slight change in the voltage.

For future readers just refuse to accept these cheaper things as the DME gets paid the same whether you gets this or a Resmed or a Philips even. The DME will push these on anyone they feel they can.

You can always insist your Dr write the brand you want and "No Substitutes" on your prescription.
AND also get a copy of this prescription *In Your Hand*.
The DME wants it sent electronically but it helps for you to see what it reads and just in case you have to go elsewhere.

The Prisma (by Lowenstein) is not a "cheaper thing" - it's actually a quite expensive machine made in Germany. FWIW a member of another forum I subscribe to is a technician who services and repairs these machines - he rates the Prisma very highly for the quality of construction and materials.

I think I'd check the power supply first, like the brick is dying or a wire is bad.

Does the Prisma provide any daily, detail therapy graphs?

How do you know it's turning off, are you waking up to a powered off machine, or do you have trace reports showing as much?

If you have reports showing the power off, can you post them?

Although you don't believe it's the outlet, you wouldn't be the first to encounter intermittent problems because of an outlet, or electrical brownout.

• Check the power cables into the CPAP, power brick and outlet are all seated properly and tight.
• Try a different power outlet (consider running an extension cord)
• Plug a power sensitive device into the same outlet. To see if it is powered down, but as suggested alarm clocks or other devices may be less sensitive to a brief interruption or under voltage. For example, upon a power interruption, Resmed's will resume therapy when power is restored.

But, if it's new, a warranty replacement, should be a consideration.
