sudden new issue with aerophagia

Post by bdancheck » Sat May 27, 2023 7:21 pm

Hi-

I use a DreamWare full face mask and have mostly had a good experience with this mask since about mid January. Every once in a while I'll have a night where it leaks a lot or other nights when my stomach fills with air overnight, but these have been infrequent. I recently had a couple of medical emergencies and cardiac procedures. Four days ago my doctor put me on new heart medicines and I am really struggling with the machine forcing air into my esophagus. It doesn't even make it to my stomach because I can feel what I've been calling a "reverse burp" where the machine forces air into my esophagus causing a little burping noise and feeling. I then I burp it out immediately and I cannot fall asleep because it happens so much. Last night I had to just take the mask off so I could sleep. No changes to any settings on my CPAP. Is it possible this is related to my recent issues, procedures, and or new medicines which slow my heart rate and lower my blood pressure? What can I do?

Thank you!

Have the medical emergencies and procedures resulted in any weight loss?
Is your sleep postion different

If you think your unnamed medication may have an impact on the way you breathe you may get more reliable answers from a pharmacist.

If you want to understand more about your therapy, please download OSCAR to and use it to see if anything has changed in your machine's behavior

If you want our help understanding what your machined has been doing, you would have upload screen shots of OSCAR data to an external site.

We also need to know the type of machine you're using, and its settings - you can put that info in your profile.

Did you use the machine in the hospital? Could someone have changed the settings without your knowing?
