Rub the hose with lemon peel.
Best idea. Didn't know.

Cats in the kitchen tell you what they like--or not!

While cat 'families' may sleep and travel together, cats are not 'pack' animals and may or may not respect 'alphas' as such. If they respect you in general, you may be able to train them to leave the hoses alone, but that's another story.
Maine Coons (the breed the person you are responding to has) have a bit different personalities than many other cats. Many call them the dogs of the cat world, not just because of their size, but because their personalities can be more dog like. Also, when multiple cats of any breed live together they do often develop a pecking order of sorts with an alpha cat. They also sometimes stake out territories.
My mother in law breeds Maine Coon cats, and we find that when entering a new home they often first make friends with the family dog. They also tend to be more likely to socialize with other household cats than many other breeds of cat.

yup, mine as well. I covered my hose with a cover made from a piece of soft flannel just a little larger than the hose. my two let it alone at night and during the day I slip the hose and mask into a little stuff bag. hope this works for you

One of my cats was constantly biting or clawing holes in the hose a couple of years ago.
I read that wrapping it in foil would solve the problem.
DO NOT DO THAT. The cat nearly went berserk! Plus it would not keep still, and that made wrapping it really difficult!
After checking back with this forum, I learned that you are supposed to wrap the hose, not the cat!
I actually did that, and it worked pretty well.
Now I only use a hose cover, and the cat has lost interest in the hose.

Let's be nice to cats, please.
I mean, cats have been studying us for centuries now and have got pretty used to having us around, so I'm kinda depending on them to find some way of stopping this whole AI thing from destroying us all.
And that's a wrap.

I see what you did there.

Maine Coons are the best.
