My previous cat bit the hose, my new cat bites the electrical wires. She has PICA and loves plastic. They both bit machine parts to wake me up.

It helps to know why they are doing it.

I loosley wrapped a silk scarf around the hose and secured it with a couple of elastic bands. If they try biting it they don't get that satisfying pop. So hose is safe.

For the electrical cords, I knit a tube to go over the cords and put cardboard tubes between the two. The cardboard tubes were just the inside of saran wrap type of wraps.

Well, our bedroom has a door, and I have a low-level allergy to our cat. So we keep the bedroom door closed all the time to keep the cat dander down in the bedroom. Although the cat wants to get in that room in the worst way now and then, she just can't. She still tries sometimes, especially since her favorite people are holed up in there all night, so I find that the earplugs that I wear to keep the CPAP machine noise down also work on the cat noise when she decides it's time to get in the room. Works pretty well to keep the cat away from our CPAP accessories.

Please, as a former veterinary worker and cat owner for decades, please do not use a spray bottle on your cat. If you want to know why, go to YouTube and search for "Jackson Galaxy spray bottle".
Yeah, no. Spray bottles have worked for decades. The latest fad does not interest me.

Somebody has to be in charge. if it's not you, its your cat. If that's OK with you, no worries.

I've worked with multiple cat behaviorists over the last 30 years who have said the same thing, it's hardly a "fad". Spraying your cat with water makes them afraid of you. You want your cat to have behavioral issues? Spray them with water. All it tells me is that you're not afraid to frighten your cat.

My many generations of well-adjusted, nicely-behaved cats disagree with your new-age horse pucky nonsense.

And that's why people's hoses get attacked.

Our cat has no interest in my cpap, or any part thereof.
She does know where I keep the laser pointer.
I only need to reach for its drawer, and I have her full attention.

Funny, I’ve also raised generations of well-behaved cats, and I didn’t have to physically assault them to achieve that. You probably think hitting kids is a good way to get them to behave, too. 🙄

When you are losing the argument, create a strawman argument. Not nice.

Unless your cat is paying you room and board, evict it and buy a Goldfish for a pet.

Thanks for all the ideas. After reading some, I have come up with, yet, another idea.
I am thinking about using one of the damaged tunes as a decoy. Will let you know if it works!
Thanks

Sounds like that will reinforce the bad behavior.

Put a little Texas Pete hot sauce on one of the damaged tubes. Leave it lying near the bed. Create a negative association. Break the habit.

Rub the hose with lemon peel.
Cats hate the smell of lemon oil.
Keep a favorite cat toy nearby--distract cat, enjoy.
