Plan B:

Do blocks of 40 breaths on the machine, turn it off and record Spontaneous Trigger and Cycle.

1. 40 breaths that you let the machine initiate and terminate the breath. Do not voluntarily inhale or exhale whatsoever.
2. 40 breaths that you let the machine initiate and you terminate the breath. Do not voluntarily inhale but actively begin exhale less that 2 seconds after the inhalation starts.
4. 40 breaths that you initiate and let the machine terminate the breath. Inhale slowly until the machine decides to terminate the breath.

Specifically, we're looking to see if 20 or 40 breaths appear in each block. Is it a coincidence that in the 20 breath rule, 20 breaths are missing?

The SleepHQ graph is perfect tho.
Bad night last night. But rather than post charts and graphs we can talk about your experiment.

I know this sounds stupid, but this test is difficult for me. I can't seem to get the hang of doing the initiation and termination of the breaths because the way the mask delivers the start and ends of breaths, if that makes sense.

I'll keep tying and report back when I think I got it right.

Thank you for your continued interest.

Absolutely. Normal Ti is 1.0 - 1.5 seconds so unless you're a Zen Master 2.4 is going to be difficult, and in this short vignette knowing if/when the iVAPS algorithm will kick in is a WAG.

For purposes of the experiment, if you go to S/T mode, Rate 15, and Ti max 1.0 second, Plan B will be much easier.

Then we'll figure out how to do Plan B Part 2.

Keep your eye on the breath indicator to see if Spont T or C are noted.

I think if this works we'll be able to come out with a bold conclusion.

If not, it's a nice day, time to start work on the garden.

Good morning Rubicon.

Sounds like a plan. Which RATE setting are you referring to though?

Thanks for the clarification. Will post back tomorrow. Have to go to work this morning. :( Have fun with the garden.

Good morning.

I haven't had a chance to do the second part of the test yet, but am still interested if the switch to ST mode that I made to my machine last night doesn't seem to help.

Also, as was suggested previously, I have called my doctor's office to request a copy of my PFT test. The receptionist said I wouldn't get a call back until near the end of the day.

If you would like me to post my sleep chart from last night on SleepHq, please let me know.

Hope all is well for you today Rubicon!

No rush. I (and perhaps a few others) am interested to know if Spont T&C values represent the entire night or simply the last few moments of the night (which would make them worthless).
If you would like me to post my sleep chart from last night on SleepHq, please let me know.
Sure. I think everybody agrees the pressure reduction should help (although I saw it didn't do too much for leaks. I think you should try a staple gun) but you got multiple issues and it still looks like there's major sleep disruption so a 180 degree turnaround probably ain't in the cards.

Yet.

BTW, there's nothing alien about those breaths. They're a result of the machine doing what you told it to do.

(CROSS POSTING)

Oh come on already....

How did I go from queen of leaks to barely any?? I wonder if it is because I normally will toss and turn during sleep and maybe last night did not? All the talk about my medications got me worried regarding the side effects and non of the prescription sleep aids my doctors have prescribed have helped. Soooo, I took a big step and applied for and received my marijuana card for my state. I made my first visit to a dispensary, and had a lengthy consultation with one of the clerks(?) about my situation.

I told her I needed help picking out product that is known to help with the part of insomnia that involves actually STAYING asleep. I bought two products, one a tincture and the other gummies. She advised me to try the gummies first. So I took one about an hour before bed.

I don't know if perhaps it caused me to have a more calm sleep or it didn't do anything and I just happened to have no leaks. (Except for a couple very minor ones). I still awoke at three points and I sure wish I could pinpoint why. I did get more total hours than I usually do and I feel a little more rested than in the past, even with having a bunch of hypopneas.

I also wanted to experiment with a medium mask instead of my small. For the first segment of my sleep I tried the medium. It was annoying because the top went into my eye area more than my small by a bit.

Y'know, you're having a lot more hypopneas than ResMed says you're having:

For example, you could probably add 5 more in this area.

HIII Rubicon. Hope you are well today.

Hmmmm....Take a gander at last night's OSCAR overview.

Also, what do you think about my moving away from prescription antidepressants and utilizing medical grade cannabis products? Last two nights I haven't had any large leaks. As a matter of fact, very few leaks at all. I'm wondering if the gummies I have been consuming are causing me to not move around so much in my sleep? Unfortunately, they haven't seemed to work to keep me asleep like the dispensary said it would. This leads me to believe my main problem is the actual OSA. The secondary issue seems to be the insomnia.

Last night's chart below:

This would be a good spot for my "Is it going to rain here today?" metaphor, but that doesn't seem to go over very well.

I have seen too many L&O episodes where the felon has killed off one (or some) poor unsuspected slob(s) because they went "off their meds" to arbitrarily say "Sure, get rid of them! Who needs them anyway?" You have to talk to your guy and run it by him (her).

These blocks where no data is recorded-- are you awake or sleeping? The center block looks like you had the mask on but the machine off. That therapy was sub-optimal.

More "alien" (machine) breaths.

Got the oximeter and PFT yet?

I think we have to run down the entire list of sleep hygiene topics. Your sleep continuity continues to be horrible except for occasional runs of Log Sleep.

Can you post the Summary Graph for the last few months? If you're "sleeping" 5 hours a night your Sleep Debt is worse than the National Debt.

You running a back up rate? How much?

If you can do the Spont Trigger/Cycle experiment. IMO it would be helpful to know how much the machine is driving, but I don't think those values reflect the entire night.

ASPS Rules!

No worries. I'm also a little biphasic so NBD.
