Freedom V2 battery
Freedom V2 battery
I've mentioned my choice of continuous backup power in this forum previously. Thought I should bring up my recent experience. One of the two batteries began malfunctioning following the last power outage. The AS10 will continuously power up then down when that battery is in the circuit. All works fine with the good battery alone. Cpaphero tells me I'm past the 1 year warrantee, so I'm out of luck. No offer to repair it even for a fee. I guess I'll stick with the one for now. Expensive paper weight.

Re: Freedom V2 battery
Interesting, I too have a pair of these but have not been using them for continuous power, although seems like maybe I should be due to some power anomalies in my neck of the woods - brief outages and such, probably some surges too. I managed to fry an IP22 power supply on my #1 Airsense 10 last week and had to break out #2 power supply as backup. I am thinking it's time for a whole house surge protector too, I have space in my panel for it.stevenal wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 3:17 pmI've mentioned my choice of continuous backup power in this forum previously. Re: Freedom V2 battery
Update: The second battery failed in the same manner as the first (flickering display, restarting CPAP and no juice at all when AC is lost) last week. I'm once again at the mercy of the power company and weather.

Re: Freedom V2 battery
Since I haven't used my V2's for continuous power they've not had the usage yours have and it wouldn't surprise me if mine met the same fate if I did start using them more. Bummer since the 24v output makes them very usable.
When I first took a CPAP camping I used a car jump starter (powered by an AGM type scooter battery) and a solar panel to keep that topped off. I kept a spare AGM type lead acid battery on hand "just in case". Scooter or AGM is a less expensive option for home backup power, like a scooter battery with some trickle charge arrangement. Or a some type of power bank. Many to choose from these days, but it seems like the wild west when it comes to which have any durability at all.

Battery failure one week, ice storm bringing power failure the next. Three nights without CPAP, and I'm surprised at how well I can sleep. Spouse is out of town, so no feedback on snoring. I might remain battery-less.

Re: Freedom V2 battery
Full disclosure here, I've never relied on the V2 alone for backup power, it's extraneous for me. I started out with an ad hoc solution using a car jump starter. Supplemented with solar panels that worked OK, and also now have a few other Lithium and lead acid options. Call me crazy but I have a duplicate of my car battery on trickle charge in a battery box. That was a carry over from when I would use it to run my gas fired steam boiler during a power outage, with added benefit of it being there for the car in a pinch, or whatever else including CPAP.
