Airfit P10 Mask Leak Assistance

Post by MBix » Fri Mar 17, 2023 10:08 pm

Hi folks!

Been using the Airfit P10 for a couple years now and it's working really well. I had a new P10 sent out from a retailer here in Australia and my leak numbers sky rocketed (looking at the MyAir app, which I know isn't as accurate as Oscar) The leak numbers went from basically 0, to never under 20/L per min, normally over 30/L per min most nights.

I tested out a new hose/humidifier chamber on my Airsense 10 Elite, but same leak results, so I did the old leak test under bubbles were popping from the part of the P10 frame which can rotate, for lack of a better name, I grabbed the old mask which is past it's use by just to test and no bubbles were coming out. The retailer sent me a replacement unit and the same thing is happening. They've now told me it's completely normal for some air to be escaping from that location (video below) I've spent the morning searching the forums and can't find any evidence it's normal, apologies if I've overlooked!

That is NOT normal but I don't know how to fix it.
Plus we shouldn't have to "fix it".

Thank you for the reply, much appreciated. I didn't think it was normal, I'll definitely get back in touch with them

Agree with Pugsy that you shouldn't have to fix this.

But if you do end up stuck with it, this looks like a job for what's called self-amalgamating tape in the UK or self-fusing tape in the US.

I have P10 Masks also and they are a pain when trying to find leaks. In my experience I just keep changing what few parts that comprise a P10 Mask and see if anything helps. Usually, does not for some reason. So aggravating since a P10 is so simple with so few parts. Try a new mask (I hope that you always have a spare one!) and see if anything changes. Again based on my experience, even a new mask may not change the leaks. Then it is on up line to the main hose, connection to the machine, and maybe (unlikely) internal machine leak. Can be very, very, frustrating; I know your pain.

I did think about taping that junction area but I am afraid taping will restrict whatever swiveling it is supposed to do but then again I don't know just how critical that particular area is in terms of the swivel being all that important.

I would tape as a short term fix but again.....we shouldn't have to do that.
What is troubling is the OP already got a replacement from his equipment supplier and it did the same thing and now the supplier says "this is now normal" and it clearly is not.

Just in case: do you have the same size of pillows in the new unit as you had in the old?
