ResMed Airsense Auto 11

Post by elg5cats » Sat Feb 25, 2023 1:00 pm

Im planning a new machine as my ResMed Airsense 10 is fizzling out after 8 years of use. I'm a Slinky influenced ResMed kinda person. What is good and not so good about the ResMed Airsense Auto 11? is there software I can get to monitor myself clinically available? Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

I have been using a Resmed AS11 Autoset almost 3 months .. I'm very happy with it, My first Apap it brought My AHI down from 48 to 2 or less ..
The machine uses the same motor and turbine as the Airmini .. Which has been around 4 years or more .. Seems to be a solid running machine ..
It has touch screen controls instead of knob and button like the AS10 .. There are reviews and operation instruction on the internet .. (youtube)
My research has found the Resmed machines are more popular then Philps and do a better job for most people .. The AS11 works with OSCAR
Which is what I use .. Look around due Your research .. Best of luck with Your New Machine !! Steve

OSCAR, the de facto standard software for CPAP self-managers works on the Air11, as it does on the Air10.

Many still prefer the Air10, but the Air11 is proving itself to be sold. Some common issues reported, but not sure how prevalent:
  • Not all Air11 supplies and accessories are available or readily available. ie side cover, DC battery cables and converter
  • Reports of SD Card issues and seating problems resulting in missing detail data
  • Complaints with humidifier, resulting in spilled water and shallower form factor means less capacity that Air10s , althouggh they both list 380 ml
  • Lack of 90 degree bend (with no swivel) in heated hose results in more constricted use than Air10
  • Still doesn't have tan established track history, but no serious red-flags
Many are still sticking with the Air10 as replacement machines, but it is becoming difficult to get one with a modem.

Steve, thank you for personal experience sharing. I currently have Auto Airsense 10 and have been pleased with it. I've watched a couple reviews. Are you having any trouble with the humifier tank going dry in the middle of the night? Reviews are pointing to smaller tank capacity...i usually get 3-4 nights out of my 10 tank? Also are you getting all the clinical data off the phone app or do you have an option to download data to your laptop? Thanks in advance!

I've been using Air11 past 8 years without any problems. My laptop slowed and I just used the screen data. I now have a newer laptop? Will I be able to find the software easily? Id like to return to more in depth data monitoring. I used to take my laptop to sleep neurologist appointments and review real clinical data with my doctor vs compliance data and enjoy those appointments. Id like to get back to that.

My second AS10 is a couple of years old, so I will probably be getting an eleven
when the time comes. I like touch screens . . .

Reviews are pointing to smaller tank capacity..
The lesson here is to not pay any attention to 'reviewers' that can't read a simple set of specifications.

Resmed hasn't changed capacity since 2010 when the S9 was introduced, (can't speak to the S8

Actually the S8 or H4i water chamber had a 390 ml capacity.
Tiny reduction in capacity with the S9 and now the other new models. Not really enough to make much difference.

I have had to top off the water chamber every single night of my past coming on 14 years on cpap.
I use a setting of 8 (max) on my humidifier and I still have water left after 8 hours.
If someone is running out of water in one night....something weird is going on and these things were never designed or expected to last for days and days anyway.
Yet some dumbass writes a review saying the water chamber is "smaller" because they are running out of water or it doesn't last all week like it used to.....and people believe it.

The humidity in your home may have some bearing on water use, as well;
but it is true that reviewers are not always as observant as we think.

elg5cats;
Having never used an AS10 I can't compare .. But I fill the tank to the minium level with humidity set at 3 get about 7 to 8 hours ..
Filling to the maxium level there was always water left in the tank .. Equipment supplier said to dump it out each morning and
dry with a towel insert back into machine .. It has a cool down cycle to dry the hose that runs for 30 minutes .. I was told to use distilled
water .. Which I need to buy .. I try not to throw out any more then I have to .. I would think water consumption would very by relative
humidity in the location of use .. But the only time My machine runs dry is when I short fill it or sleep longer then planned .. Being retired
I sometimes sleep in .. I have read reports of AS10 users going two or more days on one tank of water I will say in My experience the AS11
won't do that .. Any other questions feel free to ask .. Best of luck with Your new machine .. Steve
