Companies that review oscar data

Post by Dano1465 » Fri Feb 24, 2023 10:07 am

Hi,

Is anyone aware of independent companies that you can pay to review your Oscar data? The company I bought my machine from doesn't seem interested in reviewing my data.

Thanks

I forgot about Jason.

I love him to death but I sure find it hard to agree with him some/most of the time.

The Jason they're talking about is The Lanky Lefty - on YouTube. He explains many things on his channel, and also does paid consultation using your OSCAR data.

Jason (AKA YouTuber TheLankyLefty27) does online OSCAR evaluations at https://axgsleepdiagnostics.com/

People seem to be very happy with his analysis which includes an online meeting. He also has a service where he reviews SleepHQ data. A lot cheaper but doesn't include a interactive online meeting. Instead he sends you a report.

I agree with Pugsy, don't agree with a some of things he has to say. I really like his you tube videos.

@Dano1465
And I hope you will too, after watching the channel.
Though some of the points will be lost unless you're in the mood to read previous form discussions.

Me too.
And it is my impression that he is capable of doing a good honest analysis of your data - without pre-conceptions. Never tried it in person - just my impression. Watch his video's to make up your own mind about the investment.

Dano, if the one chart you posted in an earlier thread is typical, I don't think a paid review is going to be of much help to you. Your settings are giving you a nice low AHI, and you're only briefly in large-leak territory. The big issue we can see in the chart is the frequency of your trips to the bathroom, which is something I know you will be working on with your doctor. (And of course you should be limiting fluids in the hours before bed-time, especially diuretics like coffee, tea, and alcohol.)

It's possible that going through the flow rate via a zoomed-in view would reveal a whole lot of unflagged flow limitations or very frequent arousals, but (a) you can do that yourself and (b) it's not clear your machine can do more than it's doing now to counter those conditions. Let us know if you'd like to learn how to do that kind of review.

How are you doing in the area of so-called "sleep hygiene"? (I hate that term; makes deviation from the guidance sound, well, unhygienic.) Here are the general guidelines:

• Keep a consistent sleep schedule. Get up at the same time every day, even on weekends or during vacations.
• Set a bedtime that is early enough for you to get at least 7 hours of sleep.
• Don’t go to bed unless you are sleepy.
• If you don’t fall asleep after 20 minutes, get out of bed.
• Establish a relaxing bedtime routine.
• Use your bed only for sleep and sex.
• Make your bedroom quiet and relaxing. Keep the room at a comfortable, cool temperature.
• Limit exposure to bright light in the evenings.
• Turn off electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
• Don’t eat a large meal before bedtime. If you are hungry at night, eat a light, healthy snack.
• Exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet.
• Avoid consuming caffeine in the late afternoon or evening.
• Avoid consuming alcohol before bedtime.
• Reduce your fluid intake before bedtime.

it's so hard to believe AXG Diagnostics (Jason) is the only place to do this. I understand he is a sleep technologist. You would think some MD group would take this on as a side gig. I am interested in the exact same thing as you. I've looked through stuff in great detail and have great AHI numbers but they don't equate to feeling well at all. I think there are some huge flaws with everything and some things need addressing. I strongly believe AHI means little in the overall picture the more I think about things.

I am pretty surprised because in his videos he clearly says only two people have ever disagreed with his advice. I assume you're one of the two.

Why ever would you think that? Then they'd actually have to spend some time and TALK to patients. That's completely against their production line "NEXT!" approach of their main job, which is probably already booked to the gills.

How can there be 'huge flaws with "everything"? Sounds like hyperbole.

AHI means a lot, but it's not everything. You can't have even adequate sleep with a crappy AHI.

It is possible to have bad sleep even with a good (< 2) AHI, because the AHI isn't everything.

He's never given me "advice" so I doubt it's ME he's talking about, but I have gone on record with disagreeing with some of his "blanket statements".

A more likely assumption would be that only two people that have paid him for advice have gone on to disagree, but as they say when dismissing people, you do you.
