Following a bout of COVID in mid October my sleep hasn’t been good. The problems are that I wake up many times throughout the night and most nights can’t sleep much past about 3AM. My daytime fatigue isn’t quite as bad as it was before starting CPAP, but it’s close to as bad. To my eye my Oscar charts look great. I did overnight oximetry last night and my O2 levels are lower than they were pre COVID, but since Oscar shows nearly no breathing events I’m not sure why my O2 is lower. I also have mild asthma which has considerably worsened post COVID.
Wondering if anyone sees anything in my Oscar chart and Oximetry that could shed some light on why my sleep isn’t as restful as I would like for it to be. Has anyone else who has had sleep issues post COVID figured out any tricks to help you sleep?
Poor sleep following COVID
Re: Poor sleep following COVID
"Coronasomnia" and the long effects from COVID-19 on sleep are still being sorted out, it seems:

But if lungs were affected significantly, that can take time for anyone:

Sorry to hear you are going through that! I wish you the best and hope others in the forum have good tips and observations for you. After a serious case of COVID-19, a patient’s lungs can recover, but not overnight. “Recovery from lung damage takes time,” Galiatsatos says. “There’s the initial injury to the lungs, followed by scarring. Over time, the tissue heals, but it can take three months to a year or more for a person’s lung function to return to pre-COVID-19 levels."--https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/ ... -the-lungs

The people who confuse "entomology" and "etymology" really bug me beyond words.

Such a helpful link, lazarus! Colomom, have you discussed your O2 data with your doctor? If I'm reading that one report correctly, you spent almost 66% of the night with O2 sats between 85 and 90. A question for your doctor might be whether it'd be helpful for you to have some supplemental oxygen during the night.
And just curious: have you monitored your O2 levels during the day?

Thanks Lazarus, appreciate the links! Hopefully, they'll keep learning more and more about how long COVID impacts sleep and with time my sleep problems will be resolved.lazarus wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:55 am"Coronasomnia" and the long effects from COVID-19 on sleep are still being sorted out, it seems:

Re: Poor sleep following COVID
I haven't discussed the O2 levels with a doctor. Unfortunately, my sleep doc/ pulmonologist left town and the one pulmonologist in town who's accepting new patients is booking over 4 months out. I've been thinking about making an appointment with my PCP, but have been holding onto the hope that with time things will improve.Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 12:06 pmSuch a helpful link, lazarus! My daytime O2 has been getting better than it was immediately following COVID. The lowest it dips while awake currently is 92, but it's often higher than that. I live at 7,000 feet so I don't think daytime drops to 92 are too concerning. While I can't do anywhere close to the intensity I could before COVID I exercise religiously every day. My biggest daytime complaint is breathlessness. My rescue inhaler helps, but I've been maxing out the usage of it every day.

Dr. John Dickinson at UNMC in Omaha has been studying post-Covid
respiratory syndrome.
You might want to look into what he has observed.
It might give you hope.

An appointment with your PCP sounds like a good idea. Be sure to take the monitor data with you! Fingers crossed you’ll soon be back to your old self.
