Events.

Post by KENSKIP1 » Mon Feb 06, 2023 5:04 pm

OK, So as of lately I have been sleeping very well. Until I took the card out of my ResMed device. Well, I don't have any ideas as to the number of events that others are having ,however, I appear to be heading into uncharted horizons. My events blast off from a low of about 12 per hour and ascend all the wat to the mid to high 20, 28 was the pinnacle. Is this a cause for alarm? I feel fine and sleep well however these numbers tell me that I may be in need of a respiratory investigation. I will add that I have the humidity set to 3, and the incoming air is set to 62 degrease. Something else, I have been having dry coughing that will last for about 25-30 seconds at a time. No unusual but simply a dry cough. Could this be in cahoots with my expanding event listed on Oscar? Thanks Ken.

Could you at least post the AHI and the event category for that AHI?
That information is available off the machine LCD display.

You need to break that AHI down into categories.
It's real important to know categories.

Categories available on the LCD screen are

Central apnea index
Apnea index

Your PS of 6 could be a factor in causing the central apneas. I would suggest cutting it in half.

Your pressure settings of 6 minimum EPAP and max IPAP of 12.2 with the PS of 6 gives essentially zero room for the machine to go up and fight the obstructive apneas and hyponeas.

I would also suggest increasing the max IPAP to 20 and see what happens.

First off thank you for the advise. This is a BIPAP machine.
So basically take the 6 down to 3, and take the 12 up to 20.
Thanks again, I will give it a try, Ken

she knows. and just to be pedantic (and save palerider the time), it's bilevel. bipap is a trademark of resperonics.

This is a BIPAP machine.
I know a lot of people refer to the AirCurve 10 VAuto as a bipap machine when using the term "bipap" as a generic term for all bilevel machines but the term "bipap" is actually a Respironics marketing term/name for their bilevel machines.
ResMed makes bilevels and calls them AirCurve 10.
Respironics makes bilevels and calls the "BiPap".
Model marketing name.

All that said...I am fully aware that the AirCurve 10 VAuto is a bilevel device. It is the same model I use night after night and have for more years than I can count.
