zero AHI on 4cm
If I have zero AHI and no other event does that mean I don't have sleep apnea or UARS?
I only get a few events when I bump up the pressure to 6cm

The people who confuse "entomology" and "etymology" really bug me beyond words.

Just got the results of my psg from the doctor. She says there’s nothing to explain my extreme fatigue. She said there were a few hypotonias and some sleep fragmentation but according to her nothing that would cause such debilitating symptoms.

No. Not trying to make any point at all.Seb-Sanfilippo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 2:46 pmSo what point are you making pugsy?

All I was doing was giving the others who might read your post and need a bit of history about you so they can make a better more informed response to you. They probably wouldn't take the time to go looking at your past posts. Most people won't go digging in old posts. You don't have OSA....sleep study documented. Now as to what it might be that you do have....I have no friggin idea.
I was trying to help you get better and more accurate responses.
You might want to go remove that chip from your shoulder. It's not doing you any favors.

Sorry no chip on my shoulder, English is not my first language so I might come across all wrong
Re: zero AHI on 4cm
That's okay. English is my first language and sometimes what I say comes across in not the way I meant it as well.Seb-Sanfilippo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:02 pmSorry no chip on my shoulder, English is not my first language so I might come across all wrong
You don't have OSA but you are trying cpap. You are going to get nice low or 0.0 AHI numbers simply because you don't have OSA unless you are seeing some events flagged and you weren't sound asleep but that's a different thing.
I can understand wanting to try cpap but you are going to have to rely more on how you feel or don't feel than you could rely on the AHI or other numbers. Those numbers are going to be low anyway and not because of using the cpap.
I am sorry but I have no idea about your fatigue issues. It's not OSA but I suppose it could be some other sleep disordered breathing problem or maybe just a crappy sleep problem if you have extremely fragmented sleep.
I wish you the best though.

Re: zero AHI on 4cm
As far as UARS goes....nothing the machine can or will show you will help you make that diagnosis.
It's a difficult diagnosis to make unless someone gets one of those in lab sleep studies using a Pes device.
Then you need another sleep study done with the Pes and cpap to get the right pressure if it is UARS.
The machine won't do a good job in auto mode for UARS treatment.

Re: zero AHI on 4cm
zero ahi means you PERFECTLY treated your sleep apnea FOR THAT NIGHT. and that is all that it means.Seb-Sanfilippo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 12:33 pmIf I have zero AHI and no other event does that mean I don't have sleep apnea or UARS?

we don't sleep the same way every night. you will have different numbers on your ahi on different nights. it doesn't mean that when you get zero ahi that you don't still need treatment. you do.
does that make sense to you?

Here is a link to my PSG, it's in french but maybe being a standard thing you might make sense of it.

I just translated the following:
Total awakenings : 11
Changes of stages: 37
Sleep efficiency: 49.9%
Neurological events
Numbers of Micro awakenings 104 (0 after movements, 0 after apnea or Hypopnea)
Numbers of myoclonus: 61 (33 in non REM, 28 in REM)
Index of awakenings + micro awakenings: 23.8/H
(not sure what is) Index PLM on total sleep time: 12.6
Respiratory events base on the sleep stages and position
no supine
in REM: zero events
in non-Rem: 27 events
Obsturctive Hypopnea: 27 , Index 5.6
IAH: 5.6/h
IAHO : 5,6/h
IAHC : 0,0/h
IAO: 0,0/h
non-REM : 0.0/h
REM : 21.7/h
no brutism
no snoring
no leg movement
no flow limitation
Desaturation: 10.3/h
Conclusion: Mild apnea (IAHO: 5.6/H, IDO3: 10,3/) linked to REM sleep (IAHOREM: 21.7/h)
Slight insomnia (to get to sleep)
Sever insomnia (to stay asleep)
No indication for CPAP
Go to ENT (which I’ve done already) I’ve swollen turbinates
Treat insomnia with sleep hygene therapy and medication

So there's very mild sleep disordered breathing.Seb-Sanfilippo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 10:45 amRespiratory events base on the sleep stages and position

And
And there's a real, genuine problem with sleep maintenance insomnia, along with a minor problem with sleep onset insomnia.Seb-Sanfilippo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 10:45 amTotal awakenings : 11

Sleep efficiency of 49.9% is more than enough to explain why you would feel exhausted all the time.
Finally:
Take the recommendation to treat the insomnia seriously. If you don't want to take prescription sleeping medication, ask for a referral to someone who does cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia or CBT-I for short. Note, however, CBT-I requires some real dedication on the patient's part, along with realistic expectations. And it's a long-term solution---in other words, don't expect to magically feel better after a night or two. It could take 2-4 months for CBT-I to make a noticeable difference in how you are feeling. No indication for CPAP
Go to ENT (which I’ve done already) I’ve swollen turbinates
Treat insomnia with sleep hygene therapy and medication
Good luck on dealing with the insomnia.
