Does modem on Resmed AirSense 11 work internationally?

Post by nicesleepr » Tue Jan 17, 2023 1:10 pm

Finally getting my Resmed AirSense 11 after 6 month wait but now there's the question about compliance and travel. I do travel quite a bit, often with 4+ weeks outside the USA at a time which makes me question how compliance is going to work here. If Resmed AS 11 using an IOT modem that works mostly everywhere then it should be fine. Otherwise I may not be complaint some months until I get back to USA and machine reports back...

I do own an AirMini but I've been informed that it can't be used for compliance when I'm away, which is tragic. They were able to use mix and match reports from S9 and Airmini to approve supplies.

Anyone knows if AS11 modem and reports work internationally?

Depending on where you go, it might work.
If not, then compliance is saved in the machine;
and it should catch up when you get back.

I have an Airsense 11 and live in France
I travel extensively for work and I can tell you the Airsense does not send data when away from its country of origin (or maybe ok in neighbouring countries - Germany was ok for me if I remember correctly). It sends everything once it gets back home.
I had an email from the French DME equivalent because they thought I was not being compliant… sent them an answer explaining why and I have not been bothered by them since.

I got my AirSense 11 last month and was also concerned about compliance as we leave for a 3-week trip Friday. I called and was told I needed 2 more nights to meet compliance, so no problem. They also told me that if necessary, they could get data off my AirMini. I guess I would have to give them the registration info or whatever.

BUT, and it's a big but, I think compliance requirements may vary depending on your insurance company. That is the compliance requirement for mine.

It may or may not work, depends on the carrier and the contract that ResMed has with the M2M/IoT provider.

Having said that, if it does not work, once you return to your originating country, all non-uploaded compliance and summary data will be uploaded. As a safe guard, ensure you have an SD-Card in the machine while you travel.

It will depend on the state of the WAN networks in the countries you to travel to, both interms of standards/bands available and scope of network coverage.

In general, the urban areas of most Westernised countries should be fine.
Otherwise I may not be complaint some months until I get back to USA and machine reports back...
The A11 will phone home whenever it is able, and will upload (at least) whatever available data that has not previoulsy been uploaded. Unless you are in the one place that does not have WAN communucation, in all probablity your A11 will update compliance data on the occasions it in a coverage area.

OP here. Finally got my machine and got to travel with it.

My DME assured me that i would NOT work internationally. But I'm now traveling in Europe and I've hit a couple of countries and seems to be connecting fine to local networks and reporting back. Data showing up on Myair as usual. So it should be fine if you want to be outside of USA for a while (1 month+) and want to meet compliance.

this is precisely WHY a dme isn't held in the highest regard around here.

grrrrrrr.

anyway, thanks for the update!

Why on earth would you NEED some form of technology to MAKE you be "compliant"???

Just make sure you sleep more than the minimum number of hours EVERY NIGHT!!!

The issue is that I already have an Airmini which is way more practical for traveling. So the ONLY reason for lugging the bigger AS11 around the world is to meet compliance so insurance ends paying for it after 10 months.

Never presume a DME tells the truth.
It is not in the job description.

In my local app store (Hong Kong), myAir doesn't even feature the AirSense 11 as a machine to select. It does work with the 10. This means I had to download myAir from the US app store (which means I needed to get a US Apple ID). However, even then the data from the 11 doesn't upload to the app. Hoping it all uploads when I visit Australia in May.

I'm from Kentucky and visiting in South Korea and was surprised that my Resmed Airsense 10 is updating my results daily as if I was at home.

Distilled water isn't readily available in South Korea.

it isn't absolutely essential that you use distilled water. if the water there is okay for drinking, it's okay to use in the machine.
