No, nobody is willing to pay them for hours of work. You wouldn't be willing to pay the medical professionals for the hours it takes to optimize your CPAP therapy. Neither would you be willing to pay the insurance premiums for such coverage. DIY.

I know the feeling. I’ve switched to the ResMed f30i under the nose full face mask and love it. In my fit kit they supplied a small, medium and wide mask but couldn’t get 100%. I found they made a small wide and love it. I’m 6 feet and 240 pounds. I thought it wouldn’t work but it sealed perfectly. Slept 7+ hours and got a 100%.

I I did a 46 minute night with constant 10pressure. At first I tolerated it and then got ok with it but I couldn’t fall asleep and every time I felt like I might fall asleep it seemed the pressure wasn’t enough. I realize that makes no sense but it’s exactly how I felt when I removed it.
My numbers were:
46 minutes
24.7 events per hour
Ahi 24.7
Total ai 24.7
Central ai 24.7
Can anyone contrast this with my sleep study above and explain why this was so bad and I’ve read that using cpap with osa can actually convert you to csa?? Is that true and is that what is going on here or just because I was awake.
Rich: thanks for mask recommendation, I am realizing how claustrophobic I can get if I get ANY sense at all that the pressure won’t sustain me but now I’m concerned about this csa thing too.

Yes. Very true and if you aren't asleep anything flagged by the machine doesn't count towards therapy effectiveness.
You gotta be asleep for anything to matter in terms of therapy efficacy itself.
Now why you can't sleep is a different matter.

Very insightful, thanks. I can only share what I was experiencing at the time. So when I had this higher 10 and constant pressure at first it was overwhelming and I tried to remain calm and get used to it and did, then my breathing relaxed and I thought maybe I could sleep the pressure seemed insufficient and I had this feeling I was going to sleep and would end up gasping for air and became claustrophobic. Maybe this was all psychological it felt real. And again the reason the Dr asked me to try this is because after I had progressed to about 10 days and got to 7+ hours sleep at the 7-12 pressure range starting w 7, I was doing ok defined as I kept mask on most all night but then I had a horrible nasal night and mouth breathing at 7 pressure that ended up feel like nothing.

What exactly does Oscar do?

it monitors your sleep from the time you mask up until you wake up. it then produces a chart that should look something like this here-


you then post it here, right here, in your thread. then those who can read it will chip in with helpful advice about what you can do to improve your cpap journey.

do a google search for oscar software review and read to your hearts content.

How easy is it to install?

fairly easy. if you've ever installed software you'll see how it goes.

pls bear in mind that oscar is a software program run on a computer as opposed to an app that runs on a phone.
